The ACC ref's need to be all FIRED

I'm not one to blame the refs and don't think they lost Pitt the game but they were awful tonight and the ACC refs in general are pretty bad.

I'm not blaming the refs for this game as there were PLENTY of mistakes on the Panthers part, but

CALL A FAIR GAME DAMN IT!

Pitt didn't lose because of the refs, they lost because they got destroyed the 2nd quarter and because they couldn't get off the field on several crucial 3rd and longs...plain and simple.

The ACC refs are just bad in general. Go to the UNC board. The Heels fans are convinced that there is an anti-UNC bias. There was like a 3 page thread on it recently, and very heated, specifically around a terrrrrrible spot in the Georgia Tech game, and an abysmal "fair catch" signal (or non signal) in the Wake Forest game, among other things.

Okay we get that but the refs were clearly biased and you should acknowledge that fact. No penalties for 55 minutes of the game?? There were helmet to helmet hits that weren't called, holding on at least 3 occasions that wasn't called and a couple of pass interference plays that the refs let go. Stop giving those crap ass refs a pass. Clearly a southern bias.

Some people want to hide from the truth versus facing it

C'mon Poke...The hit on the 'Cuse QB last week was helmet to helmet. I do not think it deserved a penalty. But you can't say that hit was OK then beech about a similar play when you lose. Did you ever meet Bushwood from the BWI board? You two would get along fine.

The bad news is the next head of officiating for the ACC will be former Big East bozo ref, Dennis Hennigan. Don't expect anything to change.

ACC refs are God Awful, but so say there is a southern bias shows your ignorance. I guess you missed he GT phantom first down the Switzer phantom fair catch, etc. in UNC games this year.

All refs are out to screw every team that I root for. It's almost as if there is a conspiracy by the refs not against any one particular team, but rather against me as a fan. I mean there can't possibly be any reason why I think that all refs in every game screw my team over. It obviously must be that they are out to get me.

Unfortunately for the rest of you, you are just getting caught up in the wash.

I agree with the numerous missed holding calls against Pitt's defensive line. Also thought Ford was blatantlu pushed several times in the end zone on the last play of first half...

Bad officiating, yes. But you do have to appreciate the way Coach Narduzzi is stating to work the refs. He is relentless. On at least two occasions the head ref tried to escape Narduzzi's displeasure by moving to the end zone to "talk" with the back judge. Didn't work. Narduzzi waited him out and made sure he received an explanation and strongly and animatedly (arms flapping) provided his feedback. While this may potentially result in some short term repercussions from the zebras, these guys will talk and eventually you will see some change. Prior coaches just smiled, said "thank you, may I please have another?"

I'm tired of people saying that the refs are horrible overall. To me that's not dealing with the obvious - when 1 team DID NOT HAVE 1 PENALTY CALLED ON THEM FOR THE 1ST 55+ MINUTES OF THE GAME (WHEN THERE WERE OBVIOUS KEY HOLDS AND PASS INTERFERENCE INFRACTIONS), then there is an obvious Southern Bias or anti Pitt Bias going on. The "no calls" for UNC were about as egregious as I can ever remember and had a decent impact on the outcome of the game.

I'm tired of the constant replay review that we have to endure. If the refs are missing that many calls, then there is something wrong. Then again, there are way too many unnecessary replay reviews.

Not to pile on the refs, but I'm watching the FSU/Syracuse game and another blatant hold against FSU gets ignored. FSU throws a bomb for a TD... on the play the left Tackle grabs the Syracuse DE and yanks his shoulder pads. Completely obvious. Meanwhile the ref is literally 5 yards away with an unobstructed view. No call.

Draw your own conclusion.

There is some bias, but overall these guys are absolutely terrible. Thursday's game was not the first where penalties were not called on a team until the last minutes and every holding was ignored. It is just about impossible for any single team to not record a holding penalty for even one entire game. Every conference has some biased refs, the ACC refs just happen to have no football knowledge on top of that.

Did you catch the hysterically blatant block in the back by FSU during a punt return and the ref - who was right there - did not throw a flag? Thank goodness the ref 20 yards behind the play caught it. Sheesh.
