With all the issues we saw last night, the team’s effort wasn’t one of them. Yes, we came out flat, But As poorly as the QB played, as poorly as the O-line looked and as poorly as we looked at times on Defense, the team stayed in the fight and was in position to win the game heading into the final 5-6 minutes. I’ve seen plenty of teams quit and turn on one other in situations like last night. The fact that this team continued to give effort and didn’t quit ought to give you something to be optimistic about moving forward.

I’m sure we’ll clean up the defensive heading into WVU (Linebacker’s angles & Run fits were terrible).I’m sure the O-line will improve as the season progresses.(working with a new guard effects the timing & chemistry of the line more than you would realize, especially with combo-blocks in the run game) The QB is at a crossroad. Better protection and a better run game will help, but confidence is the real issue here. Despite all of the issues, he did throw 3 TDs and zero picks (aside from the fumble on the run). That’s something to build on…He can turn all the negativity around with a solid effort and a win at West Virginia.
