If you are in the North and get on 80 it almost a straight shot in.

I have made this trip before and on a Saturday, it's even easier if you choose to leave home early.

Stay the night, walk around Sunday morning and head home. New York at the Holidays is actually a pretty cool time of the year for the Family or just with your significant other or buddies.

Always depends on weather but if we get pinstripe bowl, I will been there

If you plan on staying overnight, driving to NYC is a pain. Every hotel charges $60+ per day to park the car overnight, unless you plan on coming back across the river after the game and staying in Newark or something.

If you want to go to NYC without a car, which most people prefer, you gotta fly or take Megabus. Megabus is a very cheap and convenient option.... but the earliest bus on 12/26 arrives in midtown manhattan at 2:05pm. That's cutting it close for getting checked into a hotel and getting to the bronx via subway by 3:30pm - but it can be done.

we stayed at the hyatt on the hudson in jersey city over the summer. very cheap rate at the time we went (less than a pitt football weekend in pittsburgh by far). They let us park early and keep the car in their lot after checkout (without charging us) because we wanted to do more touristy stuff. Not sure how NYC would be though during the holiday break.

Drive from Pgh to Allentown. 4.5 hours

Park n ride in Allentown and take the Cruise Bus into the city

1 hour 20 minutes

Less driving time....a chance to snooze or check emails

last time I did this trip it was 17.50 each way

That's a very interesting option. If we're in the Pinstripe, I might look into that.

Look online for some lots. Last couple times we went, I parkes at a lot around 10th and 40th (estimating). It was less than $20. Its in the garage of a 2 or 3 star hotel, which we didn't stay at.

I may take the train to NYC for the hoops game on Dec 20, might be an option for the Pinstrip Bowl as well. I have never traveled by train in the US, not sure how I will like it. Takes about 9 hrs from Pgh, but you don't have to pay for parking for the weekend and avoid having to drive in Manhattan. There is a lot of room on the train, way more comfortable than a plane, which it has to be since you are on it so much longer. I generally enjoy driving, but as I get older I can do without winter weather and city traffic.

Better yet drive to Bethlehem PA a few miles from Allentown park at the TransBridge bus terminal and take TransBridge buses to NYC Port Authority. They have a regular service on the weekday every hour or so but not sure about holiday or weekend service. Its the buses that people who live in the Lehigh Valley and work in NYC commute on. Reliable and regular service with a bus terminal to park your car.
I believe the non stops take like 1:40 and the stoppers maybe 2 hrs.

Forgot the Pinstripe Bowl was Dec 26. Train not much of an option unless you hate Christmas.
