Much more room for ACC games on non-ESPNU channels.
Assuming ESPN wins the other half of the package of 25 football games and 50 basketball games, that would be roughly 2 BT games per week.
I am sure the Big Ten would have ESPN and FOX alternate the 3:30 broadcast network game, so the BT's ESPN/Fox lineup would probably look like:
noon ESPN
noon FS1
3:30 ABC/ESPN2
7:00 FOX
Or
noon ESPN
noon FS1
3:30 FOX
7:00 ESPN or ABC
For the ACC, that means the noon ESPN2 slot is open every week along with the 3:30 ABC/ESPN2 mirror slot every other week.
So, in essence, 2 would-have-been ESPN games per week went to FOX and those 2 games are likely to be filled by the ACC.
FWIW, if ESPN doesnt win the other half of the package, there will not be an ACC channel because ESPN will basically become it bu default. ESPN, if they lose the BT, will have too much airtime to fill with ACC programming to give it its own channel. And this could be what ESPN is waiting for. If they lose the BT, they wont have enough quality total inventory to move ACC games onto a new niche channel.
