Transfers happen. Talented guys leave programs everywhere. Today's kids are a lot different. When the going gets tough, they're out. That's just the way it is. All programs have to deal with this.

The larger issue here is Capel's recruiting has been very poor behind those guys. He landed 3 talented players in like 5 minutes after he got fired but hasnt been able to recruit over them or even get competent guys who could challenge for minutes. And as we've said a million times, this is compounded by the fact that we dont have a 2021 recruiting class.

Had Capel been recruiting better, there wouldn't be all this doom and gloom

I could definitely understand why Pitt fans are concerned. It’s essentially the exact opposite of WVU, in terms of “best approach to a successful program”. You need to win the recruiting season. Capel just isn’t earning a good grade so far. It’s so incredibly strange that he doesn’t have a recruit for this period.

Well yeah... we had anticipating 2/3 scholarships for 2021 going into the season (Brown, Nike, Drumgoole.) Filled none of them in the early signing period.

now hit with 2 transfers out in X & Toney who happen to be 2 of our top3 players.
Champ is playing himself into the nba draft.

All of a sudden we could have 6 scholarships available and only 8/150 top players remain uncommitted.

Absolutely nightmare-ish situation for HCJC. Going to have to rely heavily on transfers, reclassify and JC. Hope he can pull off some year one magic again just to keep us competitive. Otherwise it’s looking like Stallings yr 3

The downside, beyond not having anyone committed yet, is that spring recruiting will hardly be exclusive to us. Almost every program in the country will have spaces to fill, so we’re hardly alone in the search for talent.

The one advantage we do have is knowing we need multiple spots whereas some schools will be waiting on guys to make pro decisions or transfer decisions later on. The plan needs to be one where we are pressing for kids as early as possible before the feeding line gets crowded.

If you posted less there wouldn't be near as much doom and gloom.
