The All-Narduzzi team mailbag question was awesome. Hard to argue over the 23 guys put out there. That's where this comes in. In NCAA 14, you get 70 scholarships, so the much more complete All-Narduzzi team with 70 scholarships looks like this:
Offense (33)
QBs:
Peterman
Pickett
Browne
DiNucci
Not too much controversy here. Your only other option is pretty much Voytik. He had some moments the year before Narduzzi, but Voytik doesn't even make the All Blake Anderson team, as it turns out, so we're going with the potential Browne showed in the Rice game as our depth pick. DiNucci gets to wear a red hat.
RBs:
Conner
Ollison
Hall
V. Carter
C. James
FB
Aston
Parrish
Wheeler
Conner is obvious, and Ollison is a good backup with a similar enough style. As the 3rd 1,000 yard rusher, Darrin Hall is a good depth pick. After that, it gets more interesting. I don't even know if he's the 3rd best running back on the team this year, but V'lique gets the nod because you can use him in the playbook differently than the other three. Chris James is the very deep depth pick; I considered Chawntez Moss here, but at some point you have to realize you're debating a video game 5th running back.
At FB (you need two in NCAA 14) Aston is the obvious starter. Parrish is a backup and better-than-remembered H-Back. Wheeler is the depth pick, but realistically you're using Ollison ahead of him in most playbook situations.
WR
Boyd (KR2)
Ffrench
Mack
Weah
Q. Henderson (KR, PR)
D. Ford
Tyler Boyd would be used here as Jim Chaney used him- give him the ball in whatever situation you can, and let him get yards with it. Mack and Weah are probably the deep threats, if Weah can hang on to the ball enough. Henderson doubles as the designated returner and would be used on short plays and jet sweeps. Dontez Ford provides depth and is the all team leading receiver in whatever league existed for a short while.
TE
Holtz
Orndoff
Gragg
Griffin-Stewart
Holtz and Orndoff should see the bulk of time. Gragg has appeared serviceable this season as a receiver and Griffin-Stewart is the better blocker.
OL:
LT: B. O'Neill, Millin
LG: D. Johnson, C. Dintino
C: Morissey, Officer, Adomitis (LS)
RG: Bookser, Hargrove
RT: Bisnowaty, C. Warren
I really struggled after the first team. Fortunately, you aren't really going to need 10 Offensive Linemen in a game of NCAA 14, so look at it this way- Alex Officer is the primary backup inside, and Millin is primary on the outside.
Defense (33)
DL:
DE: E. Price, R. Blair, P. Jones
DT: J. Twyman, K. Camp
DT: T. Jarrett, S. Soto, Watts
DE: R. Weaver, D. Hendrix, H. Baldonado
Shakir Soto is probably the depth player for all four spots. I'm not sure how short you can make pants on NCAA 14, but I'll look into it for Price.
Baldonado makes it in based on his play in a few games so far flashing potential as a pass rush specialist. You can afford that spot when you have Twyman and Jarrett clogging the middle. Jones is depth.
LB:
LOLB: O. Idowu, E. Zeise
MLB: M. Galambos, Wirginis, M. Caprara
ROLB: N. Grigsby, K. Johnson, B. Bradley
No star/money/Mike in NCAA. Freeze, Idowu, and Galambos are my picks, although there's plenty of depth here, if not much star power.
DB:
CB: D. Jackson, R. Lewis, J. Pinnock
S: D. Hamlin, P. Ford, Amara, J. Pitts
S: J. Whitehead, D. Briggs, R. Mitchell
CB: Maddox, L. Pitts, Mathis, T. Coleman
I want to be clear on one thing: I added Jevonte Pitts to the roster specifically so I could yell "THE PANTY DROPPA!" at my TV some day. He does not really belong.
Ford is the primary backup at safety. Briggs gets thanked for his years of service and is probably a captain on this team. Hard to believe how we've struggled against the pass when you have an NFL player as your fourth corner back, but that is where we are.
I was trying to decide if Philippe Motley actually played or if I just remembered his name, and couldn't.
Specialists: (4)
K: C. Blewitt, A. Kessman
P: R. Winslow, K. Christodoulou
Blewitt gets the nod for the Clemson win, although Kessman's 2018 was as good or better than Blewitt's best years. Winslow as the punter for his TD pass, although Christodoulou is beginning to approach him.
