The Next Amsal Delalic, basically, commits to Pitt

Was a good high school recruit buried behind older, stronger players on a good Iowa State team. Good size. Not an efficient scorer in high school and played very little as a freshman.

Hard to know what to make of this. As a depth piece: sure I guess. Expecting him to play more, next year, than Brandin played this year seems either ambitious or desperate.

We need shooting. He and his teammate were both top 100ish recruits. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic because frankly I don't buy season tickets rooting for our team to collapse just because I'm frustrated with our coaching staff.

We're rebuilding our bench as well, so I'm definitely not pushing the panic button over this pickup. As you alluded to, hopefully he can at least shoot.

That said, they can't all be mid-bench guys, so we better add some guys who generate some excitement soon also.

Of course after Delalic's time here, we're all a bit unsure of what this
guy can bring us. There's some obvious similarities, but we obviously
don't know if he can come in and play. Maybe he provides depth, but
we do need outside shooting (hell, right now we need everything LOL).
I do like the addition of Jackson, (strong body inside as opposed to
skinny twigs) but I would like to see another BIG from the portal and
not have Corhen be anything more than an additional 4. It's still
early....I'm hoping for more, MUCH more.

Saw some video of this kid. Definitely has a tighter handle than Amsal. Might be quicker and more athletic as well.

I like that he can hesitant and still hit the three. Hesitation throws most shooters off.

So far, Capel has gotten a big, bulky center who hasn't proven his defensive or rebounding skills yet but can take up space, and a skinny guard who is at best a bench player and unproven. We also have an unproven freshman coming in who should be on the bench but may be forced to play sooner than wanted out of necessity. We need a LOT more than that to even think about being above 0.500 next year. We need at least 4, top end, high caliber starters who can just play right out of the gate.

If Capel can't get us to the NCAAT next year, and not the silly qualifying Dayton game, he should be shown the door. It'll be time for a change.

To be honest, it's way past that point already. We're just burning down the fuse at this point.

Yeah, I think you're right. Capel should have been gone a while ago. Coaches and players are changing teams like you and I change underwear. Well, at least you. :p

If we have to get to know whole new rosters every year, then who cares if we have to get to know new coaches every year.

I was curious about Lowe’s comment about coach not coaching up the players. It does seem like there is not much improvement as year goes on. Team seemed to regress as season Goes on. Tired or not being coached up? Last year it was the opposite but not enough to make tournament still.

We've seen Capel not being able to coach up his players. Unless he has a team of a bunch of 5* studs, his teams will flounder with no coaching. That has already been established.

I am not as pessimistic as some of you sound.

I like the two ISU transfers. I like our freshman. Corhen will be a better fit at forward. Cummings will be good.

Get the Austrailian kid and 3 or more decent transfers, we might be OK. The point guards are the key.

Maybe those kids will play team ball despite our coach.

It would have been cool if Capel had played the guy who just left us. Nice too that the front page picture of this guy also had Nate Santos in the picture.

Looks like this dude committed to use from Iowa State.

Nojus Indrusaitis

Will be a sophomore shooting guard.

5.8 minutes/game this past season. 2.1 points, 0.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists (not that stats matter in such a small sample size).

I swear the staff could have just called him Amsal Delalic and none of us fans would have realized it.

This is essentially like getting a Top 75ish HS player but 1 year removed from HS. He didn't really play at Iowa State. HS recruits basically don't play at P4's anymore unless they are Micky D's or just outside. There will be a few exceptions but really, if you aren't a Top 50, you need to be in the A10 or MAC for a year or 2. The game has changed dramatically.

You're underestimating how many Baltic and Balkan people live in the Pittsburgh area and would have noticed and possibly started an armed conflict over it!
