Present your certificate that you've been vaccinated and pack 100K in for ND @ OSU, Pitt @ PSU, etc. Each team gets 1 home and 1 road game in lieu of intrasquad scrimmages to make up some for the tens of millions of lost 2020 ticket revenue. Also, each school can individually sell the TV rights to their home game as these events are not part of conference TV contracts.

Someone get this to the powers that be. You're welcome.

Dumber idea than the people that want Chris Creighton to be the next HC.

i like the idea of playing (Scrimmaging) another school during spring or even summer camp. nothing on a grand stage like this. something like pitt scrimmaging against a YSU for a day or two in the summer. not for ticket sales but more for a change of pace from summer..

i always compare it to nfl teams that used to do this. steelers v skins used to do this every summer, practice against each other and have a friendly scrimmage.. do this then get rid of that fcs scrimmage on labor day weekend that has become the "new normal" in P5 football.

I think the NFL got away from this because practices with contact are so limited now. Still happens, just not this year. I also don't know how you keep it from becoming something on a "grand scale". Especially for the schools that already treat the spring game like something more.

The reason to do it in the spring is to generate money. These schools are losing tens of millions. These are rare times. The fall sports are having a spring seasons. Why would it be a bad idea to have some big rivalry games in the spring in front of packed houses?

i like your idea SMF. im the one person on this thread not laughing.. you sold me man, i like it..

Losing a player you expect to contribute would be devastating. Did you watch the game Saturday and notice any issues with the passing game?

While that is a possibility, if Pitt could get 70K at $100/ticket for PSU and sell the TV rights to ESPN for a million or so, you don't think that would be worth it?

There would be injury concerns. I would think it would be like the NFL. Starters for a few plays and then evaluate back up players

You already have players sitting out bowl games. Now you want to add more games that nobody wants to play.
I am sure the very best players would be held out just as they are in Spring Games. The idea was for like a 2 game Spring Season to replace the Spring Game so the programs could make some revenue back by allowing fans.

Soccer and baseball have exhibition seasons in their off-season. This is for-profit college football. Its all about the Benjamins.

70,000 people aren't going to watch a spring game, let alone two.
