Previously I wrote about how long it will take for Pitt, Syracuse, and BC to realize that they are being treated as second class citizens of the ACC and the financial picture for these programs to make sense of how they want their athletics emphasized. Much the same can be said about Virginia Tech and even Georgia Tech.
As we know, the NIL has been the "Wild West" allowing the programs with the greatest number of alumni (generous alumni please) or programs with corporate and major donors to buy away talent from other programs. It has been a bidding war and it has exposed the worst of universities and athletes. Commitments mean absolutely nothing and there are no repercussions to programs buying away other programs athletes nor any repercussions on the athletes (it is a joke to call them students when they are bought and paid athletes.)
There is a settlement at hand which will compel universities to pay the players directly with the caveat that roster numbers will be reduced. We need to see just how easily Pitt and others can pay out $20 million PLUS and will things change then? I am not optimistic.
