The Pete is becoming ordinary

That's what happens when the upperdeck is half empty. It was another 10,000 crowd in a 12,500 arena.

I was at the game tonight.... great seats literally right in front of James Robinson's parents (nice people, by the way). The lower deck was full, the upper deck was half full. It's hard for the crowd to be as intimidating when the place isn't full.

It's also hard for the crowd to maintain enthusiasm when the team is down by 25 points at halftime.

I never really understood what part of this Pitt fans didn't get.

Full arenas with a capacity crowd that is loud and involved cheering on a team that is a consistent winner - typically are hard to play in.

A truly intimidating atmosphere is the convergence of good basketball teams and very involved fans, neither entity believing a win is pre-ordained.

We made like 5 FG in the first half. Do you think the fans are going to guard someone? The teams aren't as good so the record isn't as good. Guess what? Less people show up and enthusiasm is down.

It's the team. They have been a terribly mediocre team for a few years. I was at the game Tuesday and the crowd was small. But the Zoo was still completely full. The student section is all that really matters as far as home-court advantage and they've always been great. It's the team, not the arena.

Agree, just doesn't seem to have an effect to where they gain an advantage. Alot of only ok or fairly good teams that come here seem pretty comfortable.
