The Pete is turning into PNC Park

The window is still open to reverse it. But it’s closing every year removed from the golden era. Teetering right now.

A great place to watch a college basketball game but little on the court from the team or coaches to cheer for. Now its a cavern.

For Pete sakes bring in Brandon Knight already!
Yes let’s bring in the 3rd in command from Rutgers to fill The Pete!

Or, based on your spelling maybe you mean the former Kentucky player? Actually, he’s probably just as qualified as “Brandin” at this point.

It’s become a chore . Occasionally they give us something to cheer about . Dead crowd . No pep band or dance team/ cheerleaders . Zoo is ok but sooooo small

And why no cheerleaders and band at the games? Other schools have their cheerleaders and bands present at games. Is Pitt that paranoid and afraid of their own shadows that they won't allow these kids to participate in some recreation? This is plain stupid. I'm sick and tired of hearing piped in band music and nothing else except some rare cheering from the Zoo. Oh, I can hear the coaches swearing though!

Knight is more realistic than you think.

Speaking of the Pete, I hate how it looks on TV. Forget the fans. Just from a camera view and lighting. The camera sits up higher ever since they switched sides. The lighting around the court and into the stands is dark. Almost like an NBA atmosphere. Then, when the zoo is there, they can't stand behind the away team's bench. It's just an open column or two of seating. Looks horrible.

they botched the TV view for this arena. should've kept the benches where they were and just move the camera. The zoo not filling the whole way around looks insanely dumb.

The objective is to turn the basketball program around. Why are you trying to bury it? Hiring BK as the HC would be an AWFUL idea, and that is being kind.

Realistic for when? Haven’t you been insistent that Capel will be back next year and is getting a reset to year 1?

it has nothing to do w my thoughts on the current staff or any timeline.

Knight was supposed to be the 1st chair on this staff. People forget that. It would've been a seamless move to counteract Capel potentially leaving for Duke.

Are the concessions open? I do like the chicken fingers and curly fries at soccer games.

Some are. The carts that used to be serving some decent food are gone. Well, they're still there, just no one is manning (or sorry, womaning) them. They're parked in a corner in the upper concourse. Now we're stuck with mostly junk and Chick Fil-A in the Food Court.

The arena is too big. It was half empty for Dixon II. People act like it was some tough ticket and always packed. We hit it at the right time. New arena, Top 5 program for years, and the Pens sucked for the first few years and the NHL didn't play one season. I wished they'd tear it down to build a football stadium and build a cozy 8000 seat arena on the Syria Mosque site or somewhere else.

They are only doing the gap between the away team's bench and and the Zoo since no one is going anyway. If the Zoo was packed, there would be no GAP and they'd be right the visiting fans, who take up 3-4 rows. Now, I would think they should try to fill the Zoo section with regular fans but really, you can sit everyone in the arena in the Zoo section. I counted somewhere around 980 people at the UMBC game.

The season ticket prices for this product are ignorant. We’re dropping ours next season!
They’re top 4 price league wide for bottom 4 product.

They are among the most expensive in college basketball. I dropped mine this year as well. Pitt should make these tickets ridiculously cheap. Mid-major cheap. Like $100 for uppers and $300 for lower non-clubs, no donation.

That's the little secret of our official attendance numbers this year. They are stacking up the bodies in a storage area and then counting all those people as attending the game.

For those reading between the lines, Heather is greatly exaggerating attendance numbers this year. Saying 7000 when you got 1000 is extreme. For Stallings, she listed attendance in the 3000s.

Looking at reality, I doubt that attendance at The Pete has ever been much over 2,500 this year. I'd be very surprised if it was. It reminds me of the days back in Fitzgerald when there were barely enough people in there to make any noise and you could walk up to the window with no line and get a ticket for the game that day.

Not sure it ever got close to 2500.

I counted about 980 for UMBC though the students were gone. There only appeared to be a few more at the Louisville game but maybe 200-300 students so maybe the crowd was around 1500ish. Couldn't have been more than 2000. I would guess that some of the big WPIAL teams are drawing more.

I turned on an RMU game the other day and there honestly couldn't have been more than 100, maybe not even 50. I wonder if the Horizon League is looking into their return policy

It was not half empty during Dixon’s latter years . Either you have a bad memory or you are simply making things up. ACC games had around 9-10k. The Duke game during his last year was almost full.

Well, I'll be there tonight. I have to go to a funeral home for a fellow Pitt fan who died on Thursday suddenly. He was 55. But I'll be in my seat tonight.
