The Pitt athletic department reminds me of Wimpy from the the Popeye television series...

I swear, it seems that every year, they are trying to get money from their season ticket holders, earlier then the year before. Last year, it was December 7th (early National Letter of Intent Day), they sent an email out saying that you could purchase your season tickets for the 2109 season. I remember this, because I called them to ask if that was a serious email sent from Pitt or someone trying to scam some people. They told me it was real. I asked them, why they were trying to get money from people so early and the guys told me that "they were just trying to do what the rest of the ACC schools do".
I made the guy aware that the 2018 season wasn't even completed yet and they were asking for money for the 2019 season. I told him that it makes the program look bad, almost as if they need money from the 2019 season to pay 2018 bills.
Today, I checked my email and there it was, an email from Pitt indicating that you can now send them a $100.00 deposit per seat to secure that seat for 2020. Three weeks earlier then last year. Two regular season games left for this year, plus a bowl game.
Do they need the 2020 money to pay for 2019 expenses??

It’s not like you have to do it now....they just will let you if you want to. My guess is the last day to renew will be February or March.

I work with a Penn State season ticket holder. They can get a discount on next year's season tickets if they pay for them before the end of this year. And I don't mean a deposit, I mean they want all the money. They also have to pay their bills in full long before we do, and always have.

PITT and future planning... seems perfect.
After our July vacation we make our deposit for next July...

Why would that bother you? Have you ever planned any event in your life? The earlier you can get confirmed attendance the easier it is.

I guess Pitt won this week so our fans need to find some new reason to bitch and moan.
Did I say that it bothered me? I was just pointing out that they are asking for money from their season ticket holders earlier and earlier each year. I've had 6 season tickets for the last 3 decades and they never did it before until the last 3 or 4 years. Obviously they can do want they want, but in my opinion, (of which I am certainly entitled to have) it makes them look bad.
You say they are planning an event, I ask...what event are they planning for?
Will the 2020 season be any different the others that they have played at Heinz field? I doubt it.
Having confirmed attendance makes it easier? Easier for what?

Why does it make them look bad? It's not fully due any earlier. A lot of schools are asking earlier.

And if you dont want to pay right now you dont have to. You either like to troll or you just live a miserable life with some of the things that bother you.

I can't recall any comparison to Wimpy that resembled flattery.

You aren’t mad but you called up the AD office to give them an earful? Okay. Nothing about it looks bad. Calling up some college kid in the AD oof ice and bitching to them about it makes you look bad. As was suggested, if you don’t want to renew yet you can wait.

Putting in the deposit locks in their season ticket holder base. The earlier you confirm your seats, the earlier they can reassign requests for other season ticket holders that want to move. They can also start to market mini package deals and single game tickets and such.

Pitt could take a dump on some of these homers heads and they would ask for another. I got your point, not offended they do it, but it makes you wonder, like you need my few sheckles that bad!

Honestly, the OP and this are terrible takes. Pitt's athletic office is beginning to behave like every other athletic office in the country so "OMG THEY MUST BE DESPERATE!"

Please go easy on Penn State needing money to pay for this year's expenses. Remember they are still paying out millions to settle child abuse law suits. Who Knew?
