The recievers still create very little seperation against decent teams.

This was the problem last year and appears to sill be an issue. Its not like Nate is missing open receivers. There is hardly anyone ever open. I am sure our coaches are aware based on film and booth observations of this as evidenced in the play calling to date. Its amazing Peterman throws so few picks with this being the case.

I believe Pitt generally has the dumbest fan base in the country considering the "analysis" on this board and observations at the games.

To Pitts defense most of the players we play at receiver arnt receivers their RB playing receiver, and Weah doesn't have much experience at all either he was a track star we tried to convert to a receiver

It's easier to play D when you don't have any expectation the guy you are watching will go deep- allows you to sit on patterns. That's what's happening which is a byproduct of having a group of receivers who as a whole don't have top end speed and a QB who can't throw deep.

This is why they are trying to play the fastest guys like Weah and Henderson. While these guys are the best Pitt has, it is still pretty clear they are struggling to get open against other P5 teams.

A lot of that has to do w/ the quality of the OSU DB's. Typical Pitt fan... don't give credit to the opponent. It's always the <pick your position> sorry ass Pitt player.

I think in some ways Peterman is a better Tino (he will never approach Tino's CFB unofficial record for self sacking), and I went back and looked as his career. His two best years were his sophomore and senior years.

His sophomore year he had James Baldwin his last year at Pitt.
His senior year had had Street and Shanahan as seniors.

All taller/bigger kids who were able to get downfield and fight for balls, at their most experienced and mature.

Give Peterman a Baldwin or even one of Street or Shanahan in their senior years and he would be an more effective QB, able to get the ball downfield more.

Outside of Weah either taking a slant and popping it or sneaking past someone to get wide open, this roster is devoid right now of any WR who can get downfield and make plays.

Regardless of whether there are things that could be improved with more talent at WR and at QB; the fact of the matter is that scoring points is not this team's problem.

It's problem is that it is giving up way too many points defensively.

Didn't Tino put up big numbers statistically?
In his sophomore and senior years, yes.
I have my issues with PC, but he is a premier offensive coach and had the pieces to really make it work that first year and he did a real good job with Tino.
