about the players ..who is staying or leaving and who will Pitt be recruiting for next season and beyond..
I need to know NOW ...please.

anyways I guess I am starting to get a tad discouraged , and probably for no reason.

Yeah its taking waay to long for Carr and Luther to decide, let alone Ellison.
Im hoping Capel is recruiting his tail off, but we just dont know ANYTHING yet.

The scoop is Carr won’t be back and Luther is almost certain to leave too. Hopefully I’m wrong because we’re better in the short term if they stay

I understand these things take time, but yeah the wait for the last assistant and the decisions of Luther and Carr are killing me also just because I'm impatient I guess lmao.

As far as Carr and Luther are concerned, I'd put my confidence level at 90% that Carr is gone at this point, which sucks but I trust capel to bring in a true quality point guard next season through grad transfer or juco. Luther I'm about 70% confident he is gone, but I still have more hope that he stays than Carr. I'd definitely hate to see Luther go more than Carr too because he would be much harder to replace imo, not to mention it's always good to have a guy who has been here as long as he has on the team.

Hope he comes to Pitt but still a lot of schools on that list.

Also, Nevada’s program has really taken a big step recently to be in the final list for this player along with the Power 6 schools.

Agreed. Would be absolutely giddy to get this kid but I'm not going to even believe we have a shot until he puts out a top 3 with Pitt on it (which even then I wouldn't have my hopes too high). I just think it's going to be hard to get the top grad transfers or juco players this year because of all the other top schools who are tournament or bubble teams, not a total rebuild who will have likely a tough season next year still.

That seems to be the consensus. It's pretty irritating they're dragging it out leaving the staff in limbo, Carr especially. Without him there's no point guard.

Ellison has essentially no options. Carr has some, as we have discussed all year, but probably not an avenue to a similar role with a better team. If he leaves we have no real idea where his career will go. Luther should have many options because he is a big reward as a definite rotation big, when healthy, and just a 1 year commitment, if not healthy.

Alot of people said Ellison was best player on court during practice. Ill take him over Luther.
but if Carr leaves ill be pissed.

They always say that about transfers sitting out, hopefully this time it has a grain of truth.

Unless there’s a rule change Ellison would be an idiot to sit out, you can’t miss 2 years in a row. Would literally kill his career.

The interesting thing that none of us know with regards to Carr is what the conversation between him and JC was like .

Not many on this board liked KS as a coach , however the players seemed to have a different opinion of the man .

MC has ability , not sure his talents are best suited as a pg especially on a team without other outstanding ballhandlers .

If he does transfer does he want to risk coming back after a yr off as a p/t player at any good program .

Hope he stays , but if he reads these message boards he’s gone , there was very little love for him by a lot of negative posters especially once conference play started .

As far as Elision is concerned sitting out two yrs and burning a yr of eligibility doesn’t seem like a good idea unless your coach doesn’t want you .

At this point anyone who hasn’t announced a return is almost surely gone. Pitt gains nothing by announcing that.

You don’t leave until you have an offer and that’s after you at least visit and sit down and talk to the coach ,staff and players . Interest doesn’t equal offer .
Of course that’s after an extensive investigation of the academic opportunities available to you elsewhere .:)

I agree.

Can’t he play 1 year at Pitt & Grad Transfer out anyway if he wants to?

No reason not to stay. We hired Capel, not Pitino lol.

IMO, at some point Capel has to stop giving the undecided guys more time to decide. At that point, he needs to tell them that if you haven't decided by [Insert Date] your ship for 2018-2019 isn't renewed and you are on your own to find someplace else to go. He needs to do this so he can move on to land replacements.

It is very likely that such a date has already passed. Capel has nothing to gain by announcing that Carr is "officially" gone. It's pretty clear that if guys haven't bought in after a month then they aren't going to. Capel is out there recruiting to fill every gap regardless.

Anyone who thinks these kids are "playing" Capel is outrageously naive.

Carr "left" the minute he was granted a release. What he hasn't done is announced he's returning. Unless he does that, Capel is trying to fill the scholarship. Not the other way around.

I am sure Capel is out there recruiting guys. However, if one of the current guys looking to transfer says I can't find what I want out there and I want to stay--it will only be if there is room after Capel brings in his guys. Some guys could be cut adrift, IMO, if they don't find what they think is a better place very shortly. Summer term begins in early May. Anyone not committed to stay by then is most likely gonzo (either voluntarily or involuntarily) if they haven't officially decided, IMHO.

Agree totally with all your points.... The players who have not announced their return are almost definitely gone at this point.

It's encouraging that Pitt is even on the list.

HCJC needs to put a timeline on these guys or just shut the door and move on

I am fairly certain Capel knows at this point whether the players are staying or going. The ones who have not publicly stated they are coming back are almost certainly leaving but they don't know where they are going yet. My guess is Capel has moved on from those guys but him announcing they are not coming back does nothing to help Pitt.

He who hesitates is lost.
What a surprise if Capel is recruiting over them and it is not their choice after all.
It works both ways, don't ya know.
