Long story short, they are splitting into 2 conferences but still under the same conference. Its confusing as heck. Iove zany outside the box ideas but I gotta say this seems to be just a case of a commissioner needing something to do.

So it goes like this: Ted Gumbart is the commissioner of the A-Sun and the CCSA (a non-football, non-basketball league). The CCSA will invite 7 members from the A-Sun (FGCU, UNF, Jacksonville, Stetson, Kennesaw St, Lipscomb, and NJIT) and then rename it the Atlantic Sun. I don't understand the need for the CCSA to to formally invite A-Sun members and then rename it but whatever.

The remaining 3 members, which have not been part of the A-Sun long enough to meet NCAA requirements regarding "core members" for NCAA automatic bid purposes will be placed into a new league called the United Athletic Conference. These teams are Liberty, North Alabama, and Bellarmine. This sucks for Liberty, which has developed into a good program. Doesn't seem they will get an auto bid from this league.

They intend to add 3 teams to the "Atlantic Sun" and 7 teams to the "United Athletic." To get to 20 teams total.

What I am seeing is eventually 1 more auto bid for the NCAA Tournament and 1 less bid for the Power 6.
