These next two weeks are an amazing opportunity

Lots of skepticism on this board about what to expect for this game, the remainder of out-of-conference play and ACC play. I myself have stated my criticism on here. However, here's the thing: these next two weeks are an amazing opportunity for this program and may be the most important in quite some time. This is the way we should be looking at these games.

When are you going to get another chance to play two Top 10 teams back to back? These are teams that we beat and closely lost to last year so we know we can complete with them. There's the chance that we go 0-2, but there's also the chance we go 2-0. Just imagine if that happens. Two program-defining victories that catapult us into the Top 15 and then we get Whitehead back. Yes, it's looking quite unlikely at this point, but we can't rule out knocking down a rival on the road and then coming back to Heinz for a chance to beat Okie.

I'm certainly not sure if it can be done, but we need trust Coach Narduzzi and the rest of the staff that they'll have them ready to play. It's a great time to be a Panther. H2P.

Did you watch the YSU game this weekend? Sorry playing 2 top 5 teams at this point is not helpful

The next Pitt great player steps up?

If we want to consider ourselves a top ACC program and a respectable P5 football team, we have to play and win some of these games. Hiding from legit teams does us no good. If we lose, we know we have some work to do.

Funny thing is if we win the next 2 games, we are probably #2 in the CFP rankings at that point....if there were CFP rankings that early.

Expectations likely haven't been as low since before the 13-9 game ... can the team play and staff coach as lights out as what happened that night? It was a Rocky like performance, at least on D that night...

We could easily lose both of the next 2 but I'll definitely agree with your sentiment more so than the guy that claimed we should never schedule a YSU because they're too good of an FCS or lower level BCS program, or an OklaSt because they're too good of a P5 program.

We beat PSU last year and shoulda/coulda beat OklaSt so we know it can be done if the players and coaches show up and execute.

Just imagine how fun that'd be. It'd make for an exciting final few weeks if us, Miami, and VT would keep on winning. Hard to stay focused on one week at a time when these other things are ripe for the taking.

Looking at the schedule and seeing psu and then ok st is just brutal. Back to back top ten teams, really tough part of the schedule. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Ok, maybe I would rather not play them back to back, but bring on as many of the top teams as possible. It's a great opportunity and what's the worst that can happen? Is getting blown out by really good teams worse than close losses to Akron, Ohio, Youngstown, or bowling green? You gotta play the big boys to get on the map.

I am totally jazzed that I got my tickets for Okie State. Taking my 12 year old son and hope it will be an electrified crowd!!! If my old feeble memory serves me correctly (in which it often doesn't) we had Okie State BEAT last year, on their turf, with all the momentum in our favor. Then they call it on a BS weather delay which I think was a little shady (okay, I may learn towards conspiracy theories) and allowed OSU to come back and eventually win. I could be wrong, but that's how I'm remembering it.

So with a nod and respect to the PSU rivalry game, I am hoping we really show up and shock OSU (mostly cause I'll be there in attendence too - great seats). Me and the lad were able to make it up to the Syracuse game last year and what a fun game to watch that was....for him.

And, don't mean to hijack the thread, but if anyone has ever travelled to VT for a game, kindly let me know your experiences. Thinking about a road trip with him too for an away game. But we ain't about hostile, get-balloons-of-urine-thrown-at-you types of welcome.

I was there at the OK State game last year. It was worse in Norman where OU-OSU were playing, but it was a legit delay. Had a fun time bunkering down in the concourse and getting to know more Pitt people. We did come back into the game and were riding some momentum, but our defense still couldn't get many stops that day. Time to get some revenge this year.

Its rare at Pitt when you have the same QB, HC, and OC back to back years. When that happens, look out for good things. Until then.....I wouldn't expect us beating 2 top 10 teams back to back.

I have been to Virginia Tech for 2 Pitt games, one an afternoon and other an evening game, and had good experiences at both. But sat in the Pitt sections each time. Tailgating there was a great experience. For what it's worth the cleanest port a Johns ever experienced!

I really dont see the YSU game as an indication of the ability level of this 2017 Pitt team. They dominated in the first half and it was clear they kept it vanilla as can be in the 2nd half and it almost cost them. They will have a much better game plan for psu/ok st.. The only thing I worry about is an inexperienced team in a hostile environment next week. A wounded animal is the most dangerous!
