Things I want to see today

Outside of the obvious thing I’d like to see (a win), there’s a handful of things I want to see that’ll hopefully lead to a 1-0 ACC start.

1. Solid ground game from Ollison and co, but Pickett still getting 25 plus attempts. Watson is boring yes, but a more balanced attack can help put some points up.

2. Tackles for loss by our D. Getting Tech in 2nd and 12 will go a long way in making them uncomfortable in their play selection. Remember Aaron Donald ruining their attack with TFLs?

3. Rebound by special teams. Making every PAT and FG 40 under is a must. No blunders. Don’t begin offensive drives inside their own 15.

4. Some sort of spark. A trick play? An appearance by Paris Ford on O? Something!

Hopefully we have more to talk about postgame than measly attendance and horrible white pants.
H2P!

I like this list... I would add going for it on 4th and short any time we are inside the 40 yard line (aka try to put teams away).
Also I would like to see Aaron Matthews on a reverse pass since he play QB in high school.

H2P

This is a horrible offense to defend. I hope to see a disciplined defense and each guy follow their keys and make plays. Yes Gtech will probably have about 250yrds rushing but I want to see the defense disciplined

Good topic.

My first thought is along with what @goadie noted - GT IS going to get its rushing yards. It will go a LONG way to a W if Pitt can avoid giving up long gainers. Make them work for it, no big 50+ runs, limit the 20 or so yard runs, make them have to execute, and to beat them on every play.

Then, as you noted, get some stops for loses to put them into third and long.

Just want to see a SOLID defensive effort - again, it is OK if they get a lot of rushing yards. No quick scores, don't get gouged for 10 yards a run.

Offensively - I want to see Watson do what he did at Louisville, three wide and get the ball downfield, while using Pickett a little more on zone reads, a few jets to keep GT honest.

Get the field extended vertically - Mack and Shocky getting some splash plays, with the OL keeping Pickett reasonably clean and providing room for the backs to get upfield.

And, yes, the STs being solid, and getting penalties down where Nards normally has them.

GTech's seven isn't very good and they are missing their MLB for the first half. If Pitt wins the toss, I take the ball to start the game.

Pickett needs to be comfortable in the pocket and the receivers needs to make space.

More than anything else, be aggressive on offense and be consistent on defense.

This is going to a high scoring game and the difference will be turnovers.

If we hold GT to 250 yards rushing in the game, we should win as they are 1-1 and averaging 429 yards rushing per game and 143 yards passing per game ..... they rushed for 439 yards in their 1st game against Alcorn and 419 yards against USF last week and lost.

Slow their rushing game down some, play solid special teams this week, and find a passing game and we can win.

Gtech lost last week mainly because of self inflicted mistakes.

I know, but if we hold them to 250 yards rushing, that will mean we did a good job defensively and should have a good chance to win ..... of course, like I said, we will have to get more offense this week especially passing and play much better special teams also to win.

Will we have a new punter? Certainly a new holder. Things we'll definitely see i guess.

I guess first things first. Perhaps by our final game (which will be game 12, it seems) he'll get around to trying new safeties. Unless we can petition a 6th year for Briggs.

Just a guess but I think we will see the same punter but a different holder.
