Hope: Clemson is 0-6 against the spread this year. That's an amazing stat.
Worry: That could mean the "hidden vigorish" is in their favor. If so, let's hope Pitt wins by 1 or 2 ... even if that means Clemson covers.
Hope: Passing game should be more effective this week, since there won't be 25-mph swirling winds like there was at VT last week.
Worry: Clemson will have a future 1st-round CB (Andrew Booth Jr) covering Addison.
Hope: The defense seems to have adjusted to their inability to cover the RPO/slants after the WMU game.
Worry: Clemson runs a similar offense to WMU - with better athletes. They haven't figured it out yet, DJU has been a disappointment, but if they do - they can do to Pitt what WMU did.
Hope: Pitt has been surprisingly very good at protecting the football. Very few turnovers (except for the 3 against WMU).
Worry: "hidden vigorish" again, concerning turnovers. Plus Pickett has 7 turnovers in two career games against Clemson.
Hope: Pitt has been very efficient at turning red zone possessions into TDs instead of FGs.
Worry: Clemson's defense has been very good at holding teams to FG attempts in the red zone, and Pitt's place-kicking game is shaky.
Hope: With the largest crowd for a Pitt home game since the 2018 PSU game, that should make it loud enough to disrupt the communication for the Clemson offense.
Worry: In similar situations in the past, Pitt teams have been too hyped up and played too tight and gotten their doors blown off (see, 2018 PSU game)
Hope: Pitt is a *VERY* veteran team - with 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year players dominating the starting lineups. This balances the talent differential a little bit, because a 5th-year three-star with experience is more often than not a better player than a young four- or five-star.
Worry: Pitt has 11 four star players on the whole roster, and no five stars. Clemson has 10 five-star and 41 four-star players on their roster. Talent eventually figures it out.
Hope: Eventually the hidden vigorish has to go in our favor, with Pitt coming up big in a high-profile national TV game.
Worry: As a home favorite in high profile games, Pitt has not gotten the job done. Our biggest wins are as underdogs when there are low expectations (Clemson 2016, Miami 2017).
