....emerging from what seemed like nowhere on that team that broke the ice on Pitt's emergence into national prominence. I really thought he was the straw that stirred our drink in the sense that he gave us a tough, lite on his feet, strong , athletic big that could compete w/ the best Big East had to offer. He was a Godsend for Brandin Knight. He helped bring along Chevy Troutman while giving Brandin great screens on the offensive end of the court. And the guy was a great hedge on the defensive side of the ball. That was probably what disturbed opposing offenses the most that year as it took teams extra time to attempt getting into their offensive sets. He was so lite on his feet recovering on D. Hard to believe he picked up our D so quickly & excelled almost from the get go executing at it.
Getting him was one of the All Time great Pitt find's...and considering we got him in August of that year was even more amazing. I wish I had a highlight tape of that year & the next, I wonder if some realize what a diamond in the rough getting Onterio was for this Program at that time. So glad he is back a part of Panther Basketball once again.
