I moved from Pantherlair to scout when Harry left the 1st time. I was a long time scout board reader/poster, then that board got beyond stupid with 3 different guys with 10 different handles. I then moved to this board and it was great, actual Pitt football, no fake personas, etc. Now we have a mod on here who is deleting every thread, of us Pitt fans defending Pitt against PSU, but PSU threads are allowed to stay up. I wonder how long this post is allowed to stay up.

Okay I'm going to address this here.
We delete countless troll posts and ban countless troll posters every day. Every day. You may not realize it because we get rid of a lot of them pretty quickly. A few last a little longer, but we eventually get them all.
Today we've had our work doubled by not only having to delete trolls from other schools but plenty of other threads that did nothing but clutter the board. If someone on this board has an issue with the operations or moderation of the site, reach out to me directly. You can email me or contact me via private message. That's the best way to actually have a productive discussion.
This site has always been way better than scout, especially recently. Scout is a wasteland of guys just trolling and trying to pick fights with themselves. Yes, there are trolls here as well and it gets tiring trying to sort through their drivel. But at least this site does have knowledgeable fans and posters who actually post content. The pop-ups slow it down at times, but I'll put up with that rather than have to look for good content on scout and none exists. Seriously, scout has no content whatsoever and is inhabited by a bunch of self-loathing yinzers and mods and posters who have zero knowledge about Pitt.

Pitt Panther Fanatics on Facebook is great. Real Pitt fans who don't put up with crap from mods who have a Big Ten agenda and yes Chris your staff is conflicted. PPF is real Pitt fans and we are keeping it real 4K strong.
I am responsible for the staff here and I can assure you that we have no mods on this site with any agendas beyond trying to keep it relatively civil. Do we let rival fans interact with Pitt fans here on the free board? Yes, we do, and for the better part of 20 years, that has been the way this free board operated. When that interaction turns to trolling, we remove the fans of other teams. That's the way it has always been.
I can back up Chris on this. I am constantly sending him posts that have been created by trolls. The obvious ones he gets rid of quickly. Others are boarderline and it's up to him whether he wants to delete them or ban them. I've got no issue on how the board is being run.
My frustration is the same trolls show up under a different user name. I have requested that we ban their IP addresses, but that's a path a lot of rivals boards want to stay away from for various reasons...

Mikefln ...... you may want to try the Premium Board on this site ....... many fewer trolls, good conversation, and a lot of good content.
I shouldn't have to pay in order to have a decent conversation with other Pitt fans. The problem isn't just PSU posters, it's also the Pitt posters who are infatuated with everything PSU. How many times can we talk about Sandusky and Paterno here? How many times can each side throw the same insults back and forth to each other?
All I hear about is this hatred etc, then you see the tailgate pics from the game and fans from both teams are hanging out together having a good time. Ya, looked like hatred to me.

Ummm. Apparently u do since u can't find a board u like. This Scout board is a wasteland most post I have seen lately are 10 or 12 on a topic. The pay site is even worse canceled my subscription last year nobody was ever on it.
Scout is terrible and their entire network will be out of business before you know it.

They had you able to read other premium info from other teams boards, they had threads that could be shared between boards, they gave mods the ability to allow posters to post in all threads, just premium threads or not at all. I also like the mixing of the premium board with the free board. Their downfall was Pat Tholey not allowing the Pitt board to limit the posting privilages of the PSU posters. Oh well.
It's a shame in this day of technology that message boards have to be run to shit.

Panther-lair is by far the best site. Chris and the other mods do a great job. The problem is our fans that attack one another. You can't blame Chris for trying to keep people on point that just want to fight or draw attention to themselves. I don't post much anymore because the loud mouths ruin any meaningful discussion on this board. Rest assured Chris, the problem isn't with you or the site.

Since I started this thread I feel I should explain my position. I wrote to Chris and explained my appreciation for this site, I know it is hard work and generally thankless. I am in no way saying scout is better, it is not. They have 3 good posters and everyone else is like a WWF persona. I was more or less stating my history on Pitt message boards and why i am now on the lair. I do not and will not create a Facebook account, I had one for about 2 weeks asserting 2008 and it is not for me. I do think this is a great board, and I like it here. The problem I noticed since the Wade decision and especially since the Twitter photo with Sanders is a lot of pro Pitt messages getting deleted and a few anti Pitt messages either staying up or just staying up longer than they should. I called the mod out on it and Chris addressed it promptly. As for the suggestion that I pay for premium, I would be more than glad to donate to the board, but I am not buying a monthly subscription to have a discussion about Pitt football.

- I don't pay for premium just to have discussion about Pitt football ..... in addition to good discussion about Pitt football and basketball with Pitt fans and not trolls from other teams, there are numerous articles about Pitt (recruiting and otherwise) football and basketball and a lot more recruiting news in both football and basketball by Chris and staff that you can't get on the free board and that leads to good discussion ..... those are the things I pay for and premium dollars help Chris make the site better ...... for example, we now have Matt on the basketball board and Ryan added to the football board ...... both great additions.
- You can start and stop subscriptions to the premium board on a monthly basis ..... if you are willing to donate to the site anyhow as you said, why not donate for example $20 by buying a 2 month premium subscription therefore not only making a donation but getting two months of much more content for your donation.... that is if you are planning to donate to the site anyway as you implied.
- Your OP suggested to me that you were not satisfied with this sites free board and Chris, and thus my suggestion about the premium board .....on the other hand, your second post seems much less critical of Chris and this site ..... it appears that you do like this site and the free board, and maybe a premium subscription wouldn't add anything for you...... in any case, I hope you enjoy the "lair" !

I've always enjoyed this board the most. I've been a premium member at times but mostly use the free board. It is 100 times better than scout and Chris and his staff do a great job. The free board is open to everyone, so it is not going to be 100% clean and I'm sure is very difficult to manage.
The premium content is nice and that board is much "cleaner" if that is the word you want to use. As it should be.

Not about mods, my only complaint is a minor one but it is annoying. There are a few, not many posters here that think it is their life's pursuit to post about everything, continually harping about " ped u". Especially when most of it has been rehashed many times. I think this board should be above pettiness. New info is warrented but old news just takes away from something that was serious.
