This hire is going over like a fart in church because of the following:
1) it appears it was fixed due to Todd Turner and Barnes connection
2) it was rushed
3) it wasn't broad or deep - seems like many names left off list
4) its the opposite of the Narduzzi hire which invigorated the fan base. If we wanted this sort of hire, we could have kept Pederson. Barnes essentially took a situation where he could have been viewed as indispensable to one where he's just an also ran where his predecessor could have done the exact same thing.

Most Pitt fans would prefer we went with a smaller school guy that had upside. This smacks of a retread hire we settled for.

Hoping there's an audit committee or something that investigates potential collusion that could overrule the decision.

Whether or not it's true, the perception here is that Barnes has a foot out the door. By making this hire happen and opening up another hire at Vandy, the appearance is that he'd be on the search firm's shortlist for AD openings.
