Haha, a competitor that enjoys life while losing to teams like the Citadel as long as the price is right, some competitor. Look, if he were a competitor these losses would be agonizing , were I a good friend, I would say to him, "Look is this really worth the money when you are already set for life?"
Don't misrepresent my post, I am not denying he is a competitor, I am saying if he is, with no end to this sub .500 ACC record in sight, and because after four years......
I understand your frustration with Pitt bb , there’s not one fan that has enjoyed the last 6 yrs , but no way is the man a quitter . He was raised by a bb coach , excelled himself at Duke , went on be a young HC with some success and some adversity, went back to Duke to work under Coach K , then got another D1 ACC job , that’s not a resume of a quitter . Face it he‘s going nowhere voluntarily . The only way he’s leaving is if he’s fired or going to be fired and given the option of resigning with a nice big paycheck . He will not get another shot at this level and he knows it and no one walks away from his buyout money unless there’s some extenuating circumstances.
When you are really rich, time is more finite than money. He could retire tonight and never work a day in his life, or he could bust his ass 16 hours a day for the next year and still end up getting fired.
Say whatever you want about his coaching , but he doesn’t in the least way appear to me that he’s a guy whose going to give up .
But isn't the fact that he is bringing in 0 high school kids from 2022 some kind of admission that he has given up? Is this now standard at many schools?
Bingo! Actions speak louder than words. The fact that he only brought in Santos last year and 0 recruits this year shows he has no foundation and is just trying to scrape together a team to continue getting his large paycheck.

Not enough talent here period! Doesn't matter if they are high school recruits or portal players.
Not necessarily. There really isnt much point to recruiting HS players anymore. 50% transfer. If you can't get a Top 100 who is going to help your team next year, your better off recruiting the portal....getting a kid using up his one-time free transfer who cant transfer again.
Soooo, Duke, NC., BC, 'Cuse, UNC, NC State,Miami who all have 3-7 total kids signed for 2022 or 2023 are doing things wrong while Pitt who is following G's lead T and going the portal big time have a better plan?
He knows that there’s probably zero high school kids out there that are left that he’d have any chance of signing who could help next season . He’s well aware that he needs to win now not 2 or 3 more yrs down the road .
When they announced the Jeffress signing weren’t you happier than when they announced that some skinny part time guy from Stoney Brook had signed ! Pitts only hope is in the portal next season .
If Pitt could sign most of these kids he would !
Whose Pitt ever going to hire that will sign kids like Duke and UNC or even Syracuse or ND ?
We all know Capel is back for next year. Going with that assumption, he'll have to get us into the NIT at a minimum and be a bubble team for the NCAAT next year for him to stay beyond 2023. And if he does that, he should be COY because that feat with this team is practically impossible. And frankly, Capel isn't capable of doing that even with some top level players. He's just not a good coach at all.
Yes, I can't argue that. Perhaps my definition of giving up is unclear here. I think a Coach at Pitt that were committed for the long term would sign a few hs kids and get after it in the portal, not just hit the portal. Going Portal seems to be short sighted and limiting the ceiling a bit.
