has been beat to death somewhere on here...But how the he#l was that an offensive foul on Robinson? Don't see it...Did he swing an elbow or lean in that we didn't see.You usually don't see Jamie get that upset so it had to be bad..And in real time it did look like a bad call.

They called an illegal screen, which is particularly puzzling seeing as how Robinson still had the ball.

I gotta tell you there were quite a few bad calls...and many calls not made that should have been. The refs were not near as good as the teams. Personally, I would have to watch it again, but suspect it probably shouldn't have been a foul on Pitt. That is a guess.

Now let me take you back a few decades There was a time back in the late 50's eaerly 60's where it wasn't uncommon for a pass to be made to a player and the player receiving the ball would reverse pivot in order to screen his defender and hand off the ball to someone to shoot, naturally if the defender was already in his spot and the person with the ball pivoted into him to set a screen, if would in fact be an offensive foul should a ref desire to call it. I'm nto saying that happened as I don't think the defense was set and in position when Robinson who had the ball tried to reverse pivot and screen a defender. However a guy with the ball could attempt to screen and cause a foul...I just don't know if that was the case with Robinson

that was by far the worst call I have seen this year. still, only one play. it was at an important part of the game however.
if anything, robinson was fouled.

I think the ref anticipated JR handing the ball off as he turned, but JR held onto the ball instead of passing. The ref just blew the call!

There really never will be a worse call in sports history. And I think you're probably right which makes it a billion times worse and that ref should be gone immediately.

You can not call a foul because you think someone MIGHT do something. Otherwise, next time someone looks they're going to drive to the hoop... just get in position to take a charge in the paint when the ball handler is still at the 3 point line. You never know, maybe the ref will call it because he's assuming the dribbler will just keep driving to the hoop.

It was a very important part of the game for Haas to get fouls for posting where his shoulders are at head level of others. He gets fouled 95% of the time and gets 20% of them called just because he is big. The refs overall were not the quality of the teams playing and both sides got some bad calls and both side no doubt had calls not made that should have been. There was a lot of mauling inside and some touch fouls when dribbling. Quality coaches, quality players and so-so refs make for frustrations...

On at least one of the calls on Haas, he made clear contact with his elbow/forearm with Ododa's head. I'm sure it wasn't intentionally a flagrant foul, but it coud have been called as one.

We've had a thread running on defense and the new rules interpretation to minimize contact. Haas just fell victim to that. Ododa simply played close enough to him that his arm or shoulder plowed into Ododa's head when he turned. It was probably just incidental contact but whenever somebody gets hit in the head with an elbow, a foul is likely to be called.

The tighter calls hurt Purdue in the first half and helped Pitt get back in the game but probably benefited them in the last 8 minutes when Pitt was trying to catch up again.

There are simply going to be a lot of WTF calls until both the zebras and the players work out what is now a foul and what isn't.

many player's heads are at Hass shoulders. This was so bad last year that Matt took MANY video clips to the heads of the refs for review and they agreed that Haas was getting screwed. They said they would try to not penalize him for his size. Many refs still don't have the message. THAT was the first time I saw Haas go to a ref and plead his case..and Matt was not too happy about Haas doing that. 7'2" guys seem intimidating at times. :) Haas is a great guy and the Indianapolis radio station says that he is by far the best interview they have ever had due to his honesty and intelligence (biomedical engineering student). Anyway, I agree that the players have got to figure it out each game as it can be very different and has to be frustrating for all the players. I've enjoyed exchanging thoughts with Pitt fans and wish Pitt well. I see a lot of similar thoughts between Dixon and Painter and like many see Pitt as a good fit for the Big. Good luck the rest of the season and make believers out of the ACC this year!
