His inability/unwillingness to bring in even modest talent at the skill positions is costing us big time. In several years, Wisky will be every bit the train wreck at the skill positions that we are now -- and Mumbles will be a positions coach at one of those directional schools in the Midwest.

Besides Boyd, Ollison, ans Adonis Jennings, Chryst failed to sign any other skill players with multiple P5 offers.

I realize people say "star ratings dont matter." But this is the proof that they do. For every lowly-rated recruit like James Conner who turns into a star, there are 10 similarly rated players who never do anything.

Paul Chryst like Walt Harris built Offenses, and Wannstedt & Narduzzi build on Defenses, Pitt will continue to do both, I am very satisfied where the Program is right now, and more excited where it is going, Nellie Naysayers can post what they want, others will too!

Meanwhile, Pitt's Narduzzi will continue to do what is needed to be done!

That's bs there is enough skill on both sides of the ball to win, except maybe qb. Stop pointing fingers. If anything it was the conservative play calling. So the lack of talent isn't on ther fiueld its on the sideline (o coordinator). Every game is close , two after taking big leads. So thats the players fault ?

No. There is not enough talent/skill on this team. There's barely a pulse at WR. We have 1 serviceable TE. The LBs aren't that good and neither are the CBs.

I'm still all in long term with Narduzzi but short term (this year and maybe even next) might be a little shaky.

I saw progress with Tipton, Weah, and Henderson! Some regress with OKSU coverage on Orndoff but Pitt held the Ball 37 Minutes, led in Rushing, and was 2-2 on 4th Downs 4-18 on 3rd Down with a Total of 527 Yards in an Away Game?

Against a Senior Laden OKSU Team that went 6-15 3rd Downs, 22 Minutes with 2 Turnover and 640 Yards!

A 45-38 Game was a, play to play, toe to toe game, that came down to the last minute on an overturn fumble call, with Big Plays beating Pitt, and Pitt solid Offense still learning a Balance attack unlike OKSU?

Now comes UNC and we shall see? I am happy at 2-1:

Nova 1-0
Penn State 2-0
OKSU 2-1
TOUGH GAMES LEFT: 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, or 0-3?
Clemson
Miami
UNC
Even Steven Games: 1-1 or 2-0 or 0-2??
GT
VT
Games That Should Be Won: 4-0???
DUKE
MARSHALL
CUSE
UVA

I can wait to see how Pitt DBs & LBs do against UNC, Miami, and Clemson in the coming games. I still see a 10-2, 9-3, and 8-4 Year!

And chris James .

Or in other words ... Except for all the players who qualify , he didn't recruit enough.

So why aren't skill position recruits from Narduzzi not beating out these soup cans.

I don't disagree. I'm just speaking from larger long term perspective. I'm sick of 7-8 win seasons even being a goal although short term I'm ok with it.

Meh. If Pitt averaged 7 to 8 regular season wins the rest of my life I would be thrilled. That is what Pitt is.

That will include some bad years, but will also include some ten win seasons. To expect 9 or 10 wins year in and year out...well you are just going to end up disappointed.

Never said I expected 9 or 10 year in and out either. Just that the goal of 7-8 every year is tiresome.

Well, what I expect from Pitt and what I hope for are two different things. I hope for 10 win seasons.

I am more talking about the longterm. Average over the next 20 years 7.5 wins and I will be happy. I expect a couple 2 to 3 year stretches though where Pitt can compete for the division title, and win 9 or 10+ games.

This one, like most of the losses in the last 2 years is on the stubbornness of Duz to keep playing man coverage with little help, giving up more explosive plays than anyone in CFB---500+ yards passing???

There is maybe and they will because Narduzzi can coach. But there isn't enough talent and skill to beat a team like Oklahoma state on the road. The fact we could have won speaks to Narduzzi. Chad Voytik lost his starting job at Arkanas State this week. Paul Chryst would have continued to win 6-7 games but years when he played a schedule like this he would have 3-4. Because his simply didn't recruit anything but the oline well.

Forgot about James. So, in 3 classes, be signed 4 P5 offensive skill players. Roughly, there are 6 offensive skill slots per class. So, out of 18 possible recruits, he signed 4. I mean 4 P5 skill position recruits in 3 classes is beyond awful.

I not, I am happy seeing Pitt Players playing all 4 Quarters with a No Quit Attitude, few problems off the GridIron, and that is the biggest change I see since 1980s and that is how one turns a Program around!

Well, they were listening to your defense of soup cans at Heinz open with leftovers of Pederson's Poison Spoils until Pederson got Canned and told it was the end of his Post Script at Pitt!?

Every Poster on the Lair remembers your great Defenses of Pederson as Pitt now must recommit to better ones at Pitt. If you can Defend Pederson over 19 Years can't you give Narduzzi 3 to 4 to rebuild a New Attitude to Defend Pitt that Posters like you can't destroy anymore?

This thread tells me all I need to know about the direction of this program. 2 years ago no one would have expected a hard-fought loss at Oklahoma State on the road. Now, the program is expected to win these gamessages. Hope we can continue to bitch after scoring 38 on the road, with over 500 yards of total offense.

Pat is the head coach
It's his team entirely .
That's the nature of the beast .
Thank goodness for it and in his 2nd year as a Head Coach that wanted to come to Pitt, and admitted publicly he may not be at Pitt had that old AD been at Pitt and that AD once Quit on Pitt too back in 2002?

It begins with a Commit to Pitt that wants to be at Pitt, not in Nebraska or Wisconsin?

You never got that about Pitt and still don't!

Still very much believe Pitt wins 8+ games this season. OSU in the road after the emotional PSU win. After Clemson, I thought it was the most difficult game.
