I know that sounds strange for a few reasons because #1 we were really good for a long time not so long ago and #2 we are coming off 0-19 with crowds less than 2000 for some games. But you can tell how passionate Pitt fans are by the interest on these boards, on twitter, talk radio, etc. Even running Stallings out of town in 2 years and boycotting him shows some of that passion. We know we deserve better than a career mediocre retread.

When I look at the ACC, I see Duke, UNC, Louisville, Syracuse, and UVa at the top, programs who will usually have better players than us (or UVa with their system). But if you figure those teams will make the NCAAT every year, we are basically in a 10 team league with

BC
ND
VT
Wake
NC State
Clemson
GT
FSU
Miami

4-5 of those teams are going to get in every year, basically half of that mini-league. There's no reason Pitt can't be at the top of that mini-league. We have the facility, we have a fanbase (who will come out if the team isnt horrid and tickets are priced correctly), we are a gas tank drive fr the best HS players in the world. There's no reason.

Heather has to get this right. If its not Hurley (or Miller, I can still dream), a guy like Oats, Grant, even Musselman, or a Duke assistant (Capel or Scheyer) will get the fanbase excited again.

Capel has some decent HC experience. There is absolutely no one that would be excited about scheyer though. Not saying he'd be bad, but literally not one person would react to that by saying "YES!!!! We got Jon Scheyer!!!" Not one.

I would be excited for Jon Scheyer.

Maybe excited is the wrong word, but intrigued. There's always intrigue with a Duke assistant. He has that clean-cut Brad Stevens look to him. I'm sure he'd win the press conference, Coach K would do a media round of phone interviews and say how he's the greatest coach ever. I think Pitt fans would be intrigued. Now, he'd be down my list but I'd rather take a shot with a Coach K disciple than John Becker.

-Calipari, Pitino, guys like this would crush it here. You need a Coach that can recruit talent. Period. If you cant recruit, we are spinning tires.

Yesterday you were on some sort of rant that Pitt was finished and was going to go 0-38 because of some thing that you didn't agree with.

Well, that's still on the table for sure. Make the wrong hire and that could happen

Name a place those guys haven't crushed it.

-Pitino didnt light the world on fire at Hawaii or Boston. The Pitt fan base would have been split 50 / 50 if he was any good 7 years deep into his career. Providence took him, Final 4 in 2 years. Young coach with fire. Risk = Reward
