Reminds me of games with Bostick, Stull, Tino, Lytle, Sean Fitzergald, Ryan…
Only we occasionally had good running games
Stull was an average, maybe above average college QB.
Tino was average maybe slightly below average.
Lytle played in the NFL.

If 9 Tds and 10 int, 58% completion percentage is average.
Stull did very well his last year, he became a good QB. Tino also.
Stull blew, so did Tino their first years as starters, they were not much better than Jurkovec.
I've suffered through a lot of bad Pitt QBs. Phil is a different level bad. He is the only division one (and maybe division 2 and 3) quarterback who can't throw a spiral. He might be the worst thrower of the football in college football since teams went away from running the triple option and actually passing the ball. I can't imagine he is really this bad. At one time he was a decent college QB but he has the yips and it is beyond ugly
He has the yips. But he's still better than Villeaux or Yarnell. I'd run the Wildcat on 1st and 2nd down and then put in a throwing QB for 3rd down.
It probably the real offense and sophisticated terminology that Narduzzi likes to brag about.
Hey, we often scored a lot in those games. True we lost a lot of them. But we scored a good bit.

There is no way he is the best QB on the team right now. Not saying the other two are any good but they can at least throw a spiral. Yarnell looked serviceable against WMU last year. Jurkoveck wouldn't start for Thiel the way he is throwing the ball. Maybe he doesn't yip it in practice but his passes in games look like a JV high school QB.
Its really unrealistic but I have thought of this. It could just be the yips. But he's also a 24 year old with no football future. If he could make a few hundred thousand from bookies, why not, right? He has no allegiance to Pitt.

It actually was 53-52. The game that neither team seemed to want to win. The Owls blew a three-score lead in the fourth quarter.

Tino played in the CFL, I don't know how long, but I remember seeing a game on TV where he played for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, he did okay, not great.
I had a sideline pass for that game. 20th reunion of the 1976 championship team. Crazy game. I think it was actually 53-52.
The anniversary of that game is coming up: October 5, 1996. For those of you who weren't born yet, there was no overtime back in those days. All those points were scored in regulation!
