I know it is very early and todays performance was uninspiring but do we really not believe there has been improvements to this team from last year. It may not be coming together yet but as the season progresses I think there is reason to believe in a better finish than last year.
Terrible shooting game but i don't think we had a 10 minute stretch like that on defense at any point last year. (Obviously fell a part down the stretch)
Bad shooting games came from guys that are more than capable to hit some of those threes today, not like Cam Wright last year taking them with 0 three point capabilities.
Also Maia may never contribute a ton to the stat sheet but his minutes today were very impressive against a much larger center.
Luther and Jeter do always appear out of position on defense tho. But luther contributing at all is better than the combination last year of Uchebo Randall and Nwanko.
Despite the ill will towards James as of now his game has definitely improved even at a lesser clip than tonight he would still be improved.
Last year at times we had significant minutes played by two walk ons. This year although the rotations clearly are still not settled its a good problem to have and again is an improvement on last year.
Despite a lackluster performance it isn't difficult to see that this team should be something more down the stretch.
