I hope Capel tries to get BK to follow him here. Don't know if he would be interested, but if he is, it would be a good hire for him. It also would help with the alumni, who much respect him.

what chair is BK at RU? Maybe he'd only come back to Pitt for the 1st chair or AHC? Is he worth that much?

I'd like to see an experienced AHC as an Xs and Os guy, 1 great, proven recruiter, and a young up coming coach with great ties and upside. BK doesn't qualify for any of those. I don't think it matters at all what guys like Fields and Brown think of our assistant coaches.

Need to do much better than Knight. Great player but at best mediocre as a coach. He was one of the reasons the program was sputtering. No thanks.
Are you guys sure about those harsh assessments of B-Knight or is that just perception? I mean I know you are the BS detectors.

Count me in the group who thinks BK did not prove to be all that great as an asst, but even so, I’d welcome him back with open arms to serve under a different HC to see how he does. If Capel thinks he adds value, then I have no reason to disagree.

I don’t think you guys have any idea of what kind of coach Knight is and how he will be able to recruit with a different head coach.

You may very well be right. Brandin could have been getting Pitt in the door with a lot of prospects who Jamie simply couldn't close. Of former Pitt assistants, I'd still prefer Mike Rice, though.

I am not sure why this type of thing keeps coming up. HCJC needs to put the very best staff he can for his own success. He is being paid in part to use his experiences in a top program to bring in a well developed staff. BK needs to follow his own path to coaching success, if he does and is a success he will have ample opportunity to work in the ACC and likely for Pitt, IMO.

I have no idea how good a coach BK is and neither do any of you.

So with that.....I hope a guy (BK) that meant to a lot to our program has continued success, and HCJC puts together his staff as he sees fit. If those paths intersect, than so be it

Sure, but he didn't produce much at Pitt and hasn't been a hot commodity since. Capel should hire whomever he wants, but if Knight was a great Rutgers or Syracuse or SJU (instead of Pitt) player no one here would even think about him, let alone pine for him.

Exactly...This BK talk is getting old...BK has NOT done anything to distinguish himself as a coach in D1 BBL ...enough with the sentimental bla..bla ..bla.. The JD years are OVER!!!

Right. I don't get the sentiment behind the "former Pitt players would love it if Pitt rehired BK" shit that has been posted today. Who cares? I doubt Adams cares and he's the only relevant hoops alumn with worthwhile coin to his name. If mouth-breather, Joe Schmo, the yinzer cares, who gives a turkey dick? That guy doesn't move the needle. Really, no offense, but who cares what Julius Page thinks?

I agree with this. I HCJC wants him, that's good enough for me.

But in all, I'd rather kind of move on from all connections to the past and start fresh.

Yep - Jeff Capel's show now. I'll trust in his decisions until he proves unworthy.

I agree Coach Capel should put his own staff together he knows nothing to Brandin and Pitt owes nothing to Brandin that sounds harsh but it's reality.
