Pittlaw, you're right that Crean isn't popular here for a variety of reasons. Coming from 1/2 of a B1G household, he has worn out his welcome in his new conference too, again for a variety of reasons. I know this sounds like a little thing, but did you know he actually held a very public news conference while still at Marquette to announce he wasn't interested in the Illinois job, even though it hadn't been offered at that point? I mean, could you see DIxon or many other's doing that? He's a strange guy with a huge ego and having some neighbors who are big IU boosters, he supposedly had very eroded support in Bloomington, even before the game last night. I think his buyout is still large, so I doubt anyone will pony up, but like you said, next year is it for him.Originally posted by PITTLAW:
Funny, but is it really out of character for a coach to yell and say "naughty" things to an official? I suspect if you had a transcript of what many coaches say during or after games...it would not pass censor scrutiny. Just a big yawn from me. Crean, despite his friends here, is a good coach. 20 wins, an appearance in the Dance, in a relatively tough conference is not a horrible year of work. Much like Pitt, he lacks bigs on his present team. Unlike Pitt, Indiana fans expect way more than just a token appearance in the tournament. So I expect the pressure will be on in a big way over the upcoming season. Hail to Pitt!
