I’ve been pretty pro-Narduzzi throughout his time here so far. Obviously he’s made bone-headed decisions but I liked the overall direction of the program, stability, and I’ve always thought his edge/arrogance was something the Pitt program needed as the little brother of the area and state.

But this season was going to be telling about where this program could go... SR QB, Top 10 defense, etc.... a 9-10 win season and our recruiting takes a jump and we can become a mainstay in the Top 25.

And then... these last two weeks happened. I defended him even after last week.... NC State isn’t bad after all and things happen. But I really, really expected a nice 10-14 point win today if we were going to be the team/program we’d hoped we’d be. A win today coming off last week and staring at Miami/ND in the next 2 weeks was so important for the program. And we lost.

Not only did we lose, we really didn’t even deserve to win. You can blame Kessman all you want but BC deserved to win that game.

I just don’t know where we go from here. Posts that say we’re not going to win another game the rest of the year are overly dramatic... but 6-5 is looking like the absolute best we can do... and 5-6 looking most likely... in Year 6.

It’s clear Pat Narduzzi is not going to get it done here. We’re just stuck in such a weird place. Pitt doesn’t really have the $ to fire a coach in normal times... they DEFINITELY don’t have the money to do it now. So what’s there to do? Nothing. Waste our time the next few years til we can afford to fire him and go through the motions of more mediocrity. It’s depressing.

We can all say we’re done and won’t be back... but if that was the case you wouldn’t have been here before today. Really caring about a college sports team isn’t something you can just turn on and off... it’s what makes the days like 42-39, 13-9, or the Clemson wins so special... but sadly for Pitt fans, we’ve had far more days like today.

So I’m sure I’ll be back watching next week. And every week for the rest of the season... but I wish I wasn’t. Being a Pitt fan sucks

One last thing, if I was one of the guys with NFL hopes, I’d opt out tomorrow. A lot of these guys came back for one more special season... and that’s not happening this season. Don’t put your body on the line for this trainwreck.

Oh, and Kenny Pickett is a warrior. Who knows how good he really is but man he has put this offense on his shoulders and willed them down the field so many times the last two years.... if that was his last time playing QB at Pitt, it was a pleasure watching him.

We’ll all be back but we all do deserve better. I feel bad for Chris and Jim but this staff deserves everything that has been and will be posted about them over the next few days.
