-I vote for Pat Skerry over Mark Schmidt. I vote for DT Pitt and Pitt Poker over Mark Schmidt. I vote for a dog with flees over Mark Schmidt

-Bring back Knight. Mark Schmidt sets us back 10 years

#4. A coach who has turned around 2 or more college programs, showing that it's likely his skills and not just luck.

Coach #2. Working at a major power for that long and then also being a HC at a major college for a year (and doing well enough to be COY right away) is invaluable. Because that guy KNOWS exactly the kind of player that must be recruited to be able to win at the highest level. And he was directly involved in that aspect for over 20 years.

#2 is actually my 1A to my #1, who is coaching tonite.

I have been absolutely dead set against any suggestion of Knight being the next HC and I continue to be. But if the best alternative is someone like Schmidt then I would be for hiring Knight.

If Schmidt is the best we can do then we shoould have stuck with Stallings.

That might be a reasonable choice, wbr. I just happen to really value the more exposure and experience with a top level major college program over other things. The guy I have at the top not only has that vast college experience and association, but he had almost all of it at a very successful program that Pitt has had a long association with, prior to becoming a HC after waiting a long time for a job he thought, and expected, he'd get much sooner. He knows the lay of the land in this general region of the country because of his previous job.

All great points. I would love either one. Hopkins should certainly be wired into programs all over the east and midwest.

#2 or #3 No more twilight retreads. Pick a good younger coach who can be here for awhile. Hopkins or Oats I think would be good picks.

Plus think he may have a chip on his shoulder because of what took place at SU and be extra motivated due to that.

We were pretty damn good 10 years ago so I'll take it

-Coach #3 is a runaway favorite to win his league again next year, 3 league championships in 4 years. Coach #2 is not going to come close to winning his league next year. Coach #1 sucks

Can't be set back any further than we are today. Knight couldn't even land a lateral position. He took a demotion. He'd be, and by a wide margin, the worst candidate on any Pitt list. I like Brandin, but he has to prove he can coach before landing an ACC job.
