If Pitt will not commit to Pitino due to controversy, throw money at one of the best college coaches with a clean reputation. 8-9 million would probably get it done.

Pitt has money. Will they spend they money? It is unclear how much they are truly willing to spend. They increased for Duzz and it paid off. Not clear how much profit that has turned on the investment, but really will depend on if they feel they can get a good ROI. Same for volleyball and soccer. If I won the lottery, I just may:)

This is what scares me. I want Capel gone for sure. But I don’t trust Lyke and Pitt to do what is needed. A big part is financial. And to find someone they will actually approve. We should have just hired Mark Schmidt.

with my $50 we now have $250 committed to Donavan hire. Can someone create a fundraising “thermometer” to show our progress to $8 million and pin it to top of this forum?

How about the coach at Oak Hill or some other bb factory providing he brings his 3 or 4 best players !

The way some of you throw money around amuses me . Unless the university has a printing press buried in a secret room under the cathedral or a donor with way too much money where are they going to find 4-8 million to pay a new HC while still owing JC ?

Look at the crowds at their games , I know 7600 are announced , but we all know that’s baloney , they’re bleeding red ink . I’m sure donations have to be way down to boot .

If Heather makes a move it will be for an unknown for minimal bucks , a Ben Holland like hire .

They need to get lucky with this hire because I don’t think they have the bucks to buy themselves out the mess they’ve made of the bb program

Nor do I , but I do believe if he had a 1 or 2 yrs left on his deal he’d be packing . There’s just so much money on the table .

There are less than 1000 people at games. High schools are drawing more fans. We have no recruits and are staring at 7-25. There simply isnt a choice.

A young Ben Howland is exactly the type of hire we need to make. A guy who was won at a lower level and looking to move up the ladder.

Judah mintz really saw this coming and made a smart move. I couldn’t have imagined it would ever be this bad.

So I take it this means you aren't in for $50? Damm ... we only have about 159,594 or so donors to go to reach this money needed for his salary too.

I don’t know if there’s a coach in America who has 1-2 years left on their contract. At least among high majors. In reality, he has 1-2 years left before the extension-or-fire line, and we’d certainly eat those extra costs if he’s let go. That would be the unexpected cost, but I don’t think anyone expected a year ago that we’d be sitting here with the way things are right now.

We don’t know what the contract looks like. I know that a large number of football contracts are structured with the understanding that with four years left on the deal, the school and the coach either negotiate an extension or they part ways (whether that’s a firing or the coach taking an ejector seat job).

Bingo. Now all we have to do is find the perfect mid-major coach. Nevermind they have about a 75% failure rate and the Howland's of the world only hit about 25% of the time.

I think Lyke gives Capel another year…but insists on changes to his staff. It’s what AD’s do. Capel won’t go for that anyways. Or would he?

Why would he? I truly believe he would be happy to just get his buyout. Do you really think he wants to start from scratch again here?
