I wish I was in Puerto Rico right now. 😎
H2P!!!!!
Yes we know the story etc. Just wanted to create a post about a nice win over a blue blood back in history. H2PThe high point of the Ralph Willard era. Beat #15 Xavier on Thanksgiving, #4 Kentucky on Saturday, blown out by Stevie Franchise on Sunday but landed in the Top 25. Blown out at SJU midweek then it was the Khalid El-Amin game vs #1 UConn. Blew a big lead and the team tankes after than and got more into theft and beating up cops.
I remember beating UCLA early one season in the 90s as well. Pretty sure it was at home.
Watch it just for the commercials❤️ the intro music and voice
So I'm guessing we beat Kentucky twice in a row. Earlier that decade they beat the team with Mashburn around Christmas. I still have that on VHS.
Loved this game. I remember posting “dribbles” afterwards.
H2P!!!!!
Atilla was a monster the game prior to this against Xavier. His best game as a Panther. So I'm guessing we beat Kentucky twice in a row. Earlier that decade they beat the team with Mashburn around Christmas. I still have that on VHS.
Nice thanks, I'll have to look that one up. I barely remember him playing, but love the name.Atilla was a monster the game prior to this against Xavier. His best game as a Panther.
Didn’t we lose a game to Tennessee between then and UConn as well. College basketball was so different then. We would play Tennessee and the game wouldn’t even be televised. I remember in the first good Howland team we played at Georgia and it was radio only lol.The high point of the Ralph Willard era. He had 23 points and 12 rebounds against #13 Xavier.Nice thanks, I'll have to look that one up. I barely remember him playing, but love the name.

I was so high on this group following Puerto Rico. You had size with Cosby and Hawkins. A true star in Vonteego. Ricky Greer was a great 2nd banana, and then Kelli Taylor, Jarrett Lockhart, Primus…we had dudes on that team.
But like everything else Willard touched here that team imploded.
See below - I was right. We lost by 3, and I’m telling you, I don’t think this game was televised lol. We left Puerto Rico ranked, and I still think we were 24 or 25 when we played UConn in the El-Amin game.I dont think the Tennessee game was that year. I remember a mid-December home game vs Tennessee at the Fitz. Dont really remember the road game but yea, some of those roadies werent televised. Someone mentioned that UGa game. I remember a Sunday road game at Auburn during early Dixon 1 that I had to listen to on the radio.

Jerry McCullough was fantastic vrs the Bruins. Believe Chad Varga may have been on that team.Civic Arena. Then we went out there the next year and lost by 30
