If I remember correctly we were one of his finalist. What are the chances?
I'm not gonna hold my breath but landing him would immediately lessen my worry about next season, no matter what happens with Champagnie. Plus you'd hope Capel can get some other impact portal kids. These are all big ifs though right now. We seem to come close and whiff on a ton of these guys so I'd like to see some closures after another collapse.Very good chance he is returning to the Northeast. It was very surprising he chose Miami the first time around in the south.
Things get more interesting by the day.

I would put our chances of landing Timberlake at this point right there with Reid and JHS as in about 5%
I tend to agree, that's why I'm not holding my breath or anything. I mentioned this point in another thread but Capel has an added problem imo to sell kids now because of all the turmoil that happened and 3 key kids leaving. If I was considering Pitt why would I want to come and play for a coach that can't control the locker room and kids are technically running away. Not a good look. Then add the collapses and again, just overall doesn't help bring kids in.I would put our chances of landing Timberlake at this point right there with Reid and JHS as in about 5%
This would be something to hope for. There were many who thought he would pick us the first time.If I remember correctly we were one of his finalist. What are the chances?

Like Rowan and Herron and lots of others. This board always seems to get excited and think all these recruits are coming to Pitt and then reality hits. This would be something to hope for. There were many who thought he would pick us the first time.
I'm not sure any of them have any interest in being a hoopie.
People at Providence, Seton Hall, Miami, and Pitt all thought they had him. I think more because Timberlake handled his recruitment similar to a guy like Efton Reid - radio silence and nobody could get a solid read, so lots of schools thought they were in good shape.Would love to be wrong here but really doubt this happens. Both Providence and Seton Hall were sure they had him before he decided on Miami.

@BballinsiderfromPitt you’ve seemed to have a decent read on Timberlake in the past - anything you’re hearing?

You nailed it again!Like Rowan and Herron and lots of others. This board always seems to get excited and think all these recruits are coming to Pitt and then reality hits.
Then leave the board and chat with your kin jethroI do love Bob Huggins

It was Tony Skinn vs Jeff Capel. All the other stuff about Providence and South Carolina or anyone else was simply noise.
It was those 2 schools the first time around and everyone dialed in to the situation thought it was coming down to 1 of them. A number of people thought it was Pitt. Miami was always considered a third the first time around and almost everyone was shocked when he went south. The others were not contenders the first time around.
And Efton Reid's recruitment isnt radio silence at all.
I watched Georgia Tech illustrate what 40 minutes of out and out effort can do against superior talent. Pitt flashed this at times, but, could not sustain it. Too often guys would take a play or two off. Conditioning seems to be a problem that has to be addressed. I do not remember a time that Florida State beat GT down the floor. Watched every game Saturday, and that seemed to be the difference in wins or a loss. Georgetown and Oregon State were great examples as well. Give me some three stars or no stars willing to be coached any day over 4's or 5's who know they are the greatest, looking to be one and done.. A good example, I believe was right here with Xavier, in three years he seemed to regress, Marcus Carr on the other hand seems to have really grown at Minnesota, and even McGowens has looked good at Nebraska. So what was the problem?
Yeah mcgowens doesn't look any differentMcGowens was about exactly the same at Nebraska as he was at Pitt.

Stop doing that!I’m trying not to get my hopes up and envision a starting lineup of Okudale-Sibande-Timberlake-Champagnie-Hugely...

I dunno. Have you ever seen Jessica Biel?I like Earl’s game a lot better.
McGowens and Carr played for the last place and the next-to-last place Big Ten teams this year. Whatever else, those guys haven't yet figured out how to win.
He’s not going to Pitt. Maryland, Georgetown or Penn StatePeople at Providence, Seton Hall, Miami, and Pitt all thought they had him. Many people here dislike me. 😉Ugghhh Dislike @BballinsiderfromPitt LOL..
To be fair. With friends like you who needs enemies? Many people here dislike me. 😉
I could be wrong but that’s my read.
