S 5 Pitt 0-0 vs Yougstown St. 0-0 Beginning of a new era. I assume TB won't play so that will make a difference. Pitt should win, but as Ringo Starr said in a song "you know it won't come easy".
Pitt 24 YSU 20

S 12 Pitt 1-0 at Akron 0-1 Hopefully the Zips got pasted by the Oklahoma Sooners last week. A second hopeful is that the Panthers will have improved over last week. Will history repeat itself, and the game be a replay of last year's Akron game?
Pitt 27 Zips 17

S 19 Pitt 2-0 at Iowa 2-0 I have enjoyed the competitiveness of the previous 3 games with the Hawkeyes, and I expect this game to be much of the same. Iowa is a solid B10 program, and it will be a night game in Iowa City. Should be fun to watch.
Hawkeyes 23 Panthers 20

O 3 Pitt 2-1 at Virginia Tech 2-1 Huge ACC opener for both teams. Pitt seems to have the Hokies number. V Tech is expected to be improved this year, but the experts seem to say that every year. Will the Panthers continue their domination over the Hokies?
Pitt 20 Hokies 17

O 10 Pitt 3-1 vs Virginia 2-2 Finally back home. Pitt rallied too late last year in Charlottesville and couldn't quite pull off the comeback. The Cavaliers won't get much respect from the experts this year, but will this be one of those games in which the Panthers struggle for no apparent reason?
Panthers 34 Cavaliers 20

O 17 Pitt 4-1 at Georgia Tech 5-1 The Yellow Jackets have always been one of my favorite teams. The Jackets will have to put the ball on the ground A LOT for Pitt to win. If GT doesn't, then Pitt will simply have to outscore them in what would be a very high scoring game.
Yellow Jackets 41 Panthers 33

O 24 Pitt 4-2 at Syracuse 4-2 The Orange record is mainly built on a soft schedule the first 6 games. Pitt-Syracuse games are notoriously close and very physical. Coach Narduzzi would enjoy such a game against the Saltine Warriors [that old nickname for the Orange is for us older folks]. In a mild upset ...
Orange 23 Panthers 21

O 29 Pitt 4-3 vs North Carolina 4-3 Short prep week for both teams since this one is on a Thursday night. Pitt couldn't hold on at Chapel Hill last year and lost late. NC returns 9 starters on O but only 6 on D. High scoring for both teams?
Pitt 41 Tar Heels 31

N 7 Pitt 5-3 vs Notre Dame 6-2 Here come the Irish. Always a big deal in Pittsburgh. The Panthers get very little respect from Irish fans [just visit their site and you will rarely see Pitt listed as a tough foe]. Do the Irish players feel the same way? They shouldn't because of how the games have gone recently. Should be an entertaining game for the fans.
Fighting Irish 28 Panthers 24

N 14 Pitt 5-4 at Duke 5-4 Really glad Jamison Crowder has graduated. Blue Devils return only 5 starters on O and 6 on D. Is it the system or players that have resurrected the Duke program? Both teams score a lot against each other. This year the Panthers will score a few more points than the Blue Devils.
Panthers 37 Blue Devils 27

N 21 Pitt 6-4 vs Louisville 7-3 Nice to be playing the Cards again. Louisville lost a ton of starters from last year's team. Pitt is finishing strong.
Pitt 28 Cardinals 20

N 27 Pitt 7-4 vs Miami 6-5 The Hurricanes will have had an up and down season. Pitt won convincingly last year 35-23. I don't see it being any different this year.

Panthers 38 Hurricanes 17

Pitt will finish the regular season 8-4 which will be very good for setting the stage for bigger things in the future. I see the Panthers in the Pinstripe Bowl against Michigan with Pitt losing 27-24. Final record 8-5.
