sorry for the question...

Is this story legit or BS??

Has Pony or Cook even weighed in or tweeted it?

How about Pomp?
Refuse to believe this until Pomp has hit the tweet...and I don't tweet so waiting for confirmation

Thanks people

My estimation is that it is legit to the extent that TCU is interested in Dixon, and it's more than likely that they have actually made an offer.

After that, it is pure conjecture as to whether there is any real interest from Dixon.

This situation is going to blow up in Pitt's face like firing Frank Solich blew up in Steve Pederson's face at Nebraska. Just watch.

I just hope if JD takes the job, its in the next day or two. I don't want a long drawn out goodbye.

I would agree, except I don't even think the most rabid anti-Dixonites expect JD to be fired.

If he leaves for his alma-mater, oh well.

No need for apologies DT. I enjoy reading your posts. I'm tremendously conflicted with all of this. I think the world of Jamie but I'm not sure what's best anymore.

If Dixon thinks it's time to go than it certainly is. We'll find out soon enough.

No one is firing Jamie Dixon. If he chooses to leave this time, it's entirely his decision.

I mean, what more should or could Pitt do at this juncture?

Extend him until 2025 with a raise?

Even if he had gone to the freaking Final Four this season, I'm not sure they could have in good faith extended him beyond 2023. That whole bit of ridiculousness was one of the last gifts given by the dear departed Steve who naively thought his five year golden parachute was going to keep him at Pitt through 2019.

No coach should ever have more than five years on any contract. It ensures that both parties at times have proper leverage during the life of the contract based on performance.

They're not firing him but I'm guessing they're also not putting up much of a fight to keep him.

Probably depends on if it's monetary or not. If he wants more money, MAYBE they fight once they've reached out to their top replacement candidates.

If it's not, they probably shouldn't try to box him in. That does nobody any good.

My guess is this isn't driven by finances.
