The game against Syracuse was a tale of two halves. In the 1st half our shooting percentage was high. In the 2nd half it was low.
Tired players tend to shoot poorly and defend poorly.
With Horton missing and Santos only recently getting more PT, you can expect this to happen more frequently.

Also players who are usually bad shooters usually shoot poorly
Really?
A few years back I attended the Regional final in Cleveland between ND and Kentucky.
ND went toe to toe with KY and lead with a couple of minutes left. It was a great game.
I sat about 10 rows behind Marc Alberts toupee.
ND went 7 deep that game, UK 10 deep. ND was going to the foul line and they were gassed, didn’t bend their knees on free throws and missed a the front end of a couple 1 and 1s down the stretch.
UK 68 ND 66
Exhausted players never shoot well.

It’s also why our defense at the end of halves isn’t good. Even if we don’t have the horses, coach Capel needs to do a better job keeping his 6-7 fresh.

strategic subbing and using ALL of your timeouts is a start.

Yea pal I get your point, my point is that our guys may be tired at end of games but the bottom line is we have 0 shooters that know how to shoot a basketball besides Horton and Santos and Jamarius from mid range

Fatigue affects everything that anyone does , but in regards to Pitts shooting I think the salient point here is that poor shooters shoot poorly most of the time !

Of course it does, but I think the impact of fatigue on shooting is very minimal on shooting, especially with guards. I do think bigs, most certainly one like Hugley need to get more rest during a game. It's tough dragging 250 - 270 pounds up and down the court, especially when that same big is spending half of his time wrestling wtih another big.

But as a rebuttal to @Saboteur II 's main point, there's been plenty of data done to corollate minutes played and shooting late in a game and the correlation just doesn't exist. To that point, I personally think "tired legs" is something those who announce games often come up with to explain why a foul shooter hit the front of the rim late in games.

I’d guarantee you that me and you running up and down the court a few times would affect our legs , but most of these guys play ball all day without giving it much thought .

I’m with you though about Big John he’s battling 3 guys inside he needs a blow every now and then .

Watching a player running up and down the court a few times affects my legs.
