I posted this on the Hafley thread, but I thought I'd post it here because I feel strongly about it. It is a dose of reality for all the yinzers out there. I like Narduzzi. He has bought stability here, and his kids don't get in trouble. That means a LOT.
I have been going to Pitt games since 1969. I'm gonna break it to you, gently. They've NEVER been able to draw big crowds, and as long a Pittsburgh has the Steelers they are not going to. Period. They have a core of about 35-40 K, and that is all they've ever had. And, if you bother to do some research, you will find that among city campuses they do pretty good. But, the media here is Steelers 24/7, and you have MLB and the NHL competing for the fans. Someone thought it was laughable that his family liking it here is important. As far as wives being satisfied, you obviously are not married. The spouse ALWAYS has a say. ALWAYS. Someone mentioned Todd Graham's wife loving it here....but that guy was packed up and gone in the middle of the night. Is that what you want? A revolving door, like it has been? We had the guy who beat his wife and got canned before he ever coached a game, another guy who was in waiting to go home to Wisconsin and stayed what, 3 years, another guy who was a 'left lane hammer down' guy who put the hammer down in the middle of the night and went to Texas. Is that what you and the other yinzers want? A program in eternal chaos, not knowing who the coach is next week, or next month? A Coach whose star players throw folks through barroom windows and creates a constant air of confusion and controversy, and a constant program of drama? Is that what the yinzers really want? It sure it seems so.

Narduzzi isn't going anywhere and while many of the decisions he makes are bad ones, he needs to stay here. Let's face it, when you make a coaching change, you can go one of two ways. In Pitt's case, it is always down.

22 postings since 1969.

How times were you banned when they found out you're actually a Nitter.
Lol!

I agree PN shouldn't go only because PITT will screw up the next coaching hire and we'll be in a worse situation.
Along that same line some of Wanny's decisions were bad ones and we're no further ahead how many years and coaches later.

At best maybe even with WannyBall!
Anyone who thinks PITT has moved forward from WannyBall please post the list of differences.

This doesn't reflect well on PITT Football how many coaches later.
But maybe PITT admin doesn't really care which I think is the answer.

More money for Volleyball nets.

You and I are part of that 40,000 crowd. It's a great bunch of people that proudly support this team. I like how this team has developed this year. I really didn't think we would be playing a meaningful game in November after the Virginia Game. Society is full of unstable people. So many people live in that gray area between sanity and insanity. There are those that just live miserable lives. They create multiple screen names and argue with them selves in their egocentric world. Imagine how they are with family, friends and work. I just laugh and move along.

Narduzzi won his division and played in the conference championship. Wanny didn't

Winning championships is obviously not one of your priorities

it’s mostly the same guy with multiple accounts. Agreeing with himeself.

after a 28-0 drubbing though it’s fine. It’s when the same people aren’t seen after a big win that you can tell they are just trolls

why aren’t you calling out @President Stache right now who is MIA but is always the first to insult and belittle anyone with a critique of the program

There was no division for Wanny to win.
At the time it was the Big East Conference with one division.
2010 PITT was 5-2 in the Big East conference, same record as the winner UConn. PITT was 8-5 overall.
PITT and PN won the weak ACC 2018 Coastal Div of the ACC with a 6-2 record and a 7-7 overall record?

Not much of a step up from WannyBall.

After all of these years I would expect to see more improvement but I agree PN isn't going anywhere.
Noone wants him and PITT cant get rid of him.

Kinda like a lot of poster on the Lair Free Board.

You sir are absolutely correct.

In the ACC Coastal, Pitt is an 8 win program

More than likely, Pitt will finish with 8 wins this season.
Narduzzi is not going to be fired for that (or for failing to win 10 next season, as some here keep suggesting)

It’s just pointless message board posturing

By a small handful of dolts who keep repeating the same thing over and over again. In fact, if he wins 8 this year and 9 the following year he'll likely get an extension.

Don't personally know him, but he's not a Nitter. And he brings the wisdom from supporting this program continually for many decades. We could use more fans like him.

Not sure why you're being so snarky.
I don’t know, this guy’s post deserved a snarky reply. He said nothing that hasn’t been said on this board umpteen times and he’s ridiculous for blaming it on and directing his vents against yinzers.

I could be wrong but I get the strong impression that many posters on here are Pitt fans but don’t live in Pittsburgh and aren’t Steelers fans. Of course there are many that are. But nonetheless, I don’t think you can attribute the many criticisms thrown around in here at PN and cries to fire him to only yinzers.

so stupid post by this guy warranting a snarky reply.

We can agree to disagree. Maybe "yinzer" wasn't the best word to use but everything else was spot on IMHO.

First off, use paragraphs. Second, Narduzzi needs to go.

Let me ask you this. Paul Chryst was about as average as you can get here, worse than Narduzzi. Suddenly he's coaching teams that are consistently ranked and in the Rose Bowl conversation. Did a "light bulb" just go on for him? Do you think there are other reasons besides the head coach here for the continued mediocrity? Do you think another coach is going to come in and prevent Notre Dame from swooping the few talented lineman this region produces?

I think if Chryst stayed he would have started winning 8+ games a year here

If Chryst stayed Hamlin and Ford end up at PSU and he would have been fired after 2016 for finishing with another 6-6 season

Doubtful. For how much people complained about chryst’s defenses it would have been tough for the 2016 defense to be any worse than it was under Narduzzi.

He's been supporting the program since 69 with 22 posts since 69.
He just joined Panther Lair in 2011 and posted 22 times so its amazing that you even noticed his 2.75 posts per year. A lot of posters post thousands per year.

Red Flag!

Most of us are Panther Fans and live in realville.
If I was a fan since 69, I would have more than 22 posts, some positive, some negative , some neutral posts since PITT football hasnt been like Alabama football since that time.

Remember all the coaches we've had ( 5 or 6) in a short period of time.
If someone was an actual fan those events would have forced even the most reluctant poster, even a message board stalker, to post more than 22 posts, 2.75 posts in 8 years.

That's why I'm "snarky" because (a) he's a fake or (b) he's so relaxed its amazing he has a pulse.

I'm going with (a).

I know more than a handful of people who pay to read the content here but never post. What does that make them in your scenario?

Me? I was traveling all weekend. I didn’t watch the game so I have no opinion of it. We obviously sucked it was 28-0. I criticize the team all the time. However, I criticize where the blame should go,

where does the fault lie that we can’t seem to recruit any impact offensive talent?

The wisdom on this board is amazing. Yinzers is the word I used, and I think it fits. Whine, moan, bitch about everything. I'm surprised Pittsburgh Dad isn't more liked because he is a good representative of yinzer fans. The depth of critical thinking skills of a cement block.
I don't get how the yinzers measure the 'fandom' of someone by the number of posts a 68 year old guy (me) has posted since 1969. That is about the stupidest post I've seen, period. I'm not exactly a computer whiz, and only recently became about half interested in what goes on here. Also, I'm recently retired, so I never had time before as I had a job which apparently Pitt Family does not have. Pitt Family is gonna have to get one someday, and it will cut into his posting time. It's kind of fun to see what stupidity the stupid yinzers are talking about now. For sheer entertainment, it's tough to beat.
I am no Nitter, not by a long shot. I sat at Pitt Stadium during the 48-14 debacle, when JoePa got time put on the clock to kick his tying field go against Foge, when Billy Owens picked off a PSU pass at the end of the game and took it to the house to seal the win. I sat gleefully at Beaver Stadium when Sherrill took the covers off of Randy McMillan and he ran roughshod over the Nits. All I heard from the Nitters around me is "you guys recruit illegal". I sat at Three Rivers when Carson Long went wide right on three field goals and we lost 7-6. Ruined my year. Everything I said is true. The Pitt fan base is 35-45000, has been for years. This is a Steeler town, not a football town. Pitt could win the National Championship and Andrew Stockey would still be talking about the 'Black and Gold Nation'. Those are facts.
Pitt does not have the size, the alumni, the money to 'win championships' consistently over the likes of Alabama, LSU...heck, even ND, the biggest name in college football for decades, has difficulty competing with them..........and with the new being able to pay 'stars', Alabama has enough well heeled alumni to hire everyone on the Tide roster to sell their product in TV commercials in the entire state of Alabama. What Pitt does have is a first class program, a first class coach, that can compete in the ACC Coastal year in and year out, which is a first class conference and the big time. Every now and then they can make a run at the ACC, and have a banner year, probably finish in the top ten. If they do that, and our kids are not getting arrested and embarrass the stuffing out of us, and the university, I'm fine with this. I sat through a chaotic, revolving door program that was a laughing stock for too many years. You 'win at all cost' yinzers have cost us enough already. You got your way by whining and carrying on for too long, and now the ship has righted. Most of you won't even go to the BC game, you'll sit here and whine on the computer. I'll be there, an old guy in my Pitt stocking hat, cheering on my Panthers. That is the end of my 23rd post, Pitt Family.

If you read every teams board, when they lose a game the trolls come out in masses either asking for the coach to be fired, change assistants, put in second string QB, etc. This is what sports social media has become. Anybody that works in a profession dealing with the public knows one thing, people are nutz, luney and fing crazy. If your business has a customer complaint system you know what I mean. Those complaint systems make great laughter amongst the workers w/ a morning cup of Joe. It's scary that some think they are making rational points. I wonder what mental illness they pass to their kids. I'm sure they are a real pleasure at work

love it! You criticize a coach having a mediocre year in his 5th year and you are a troll!

Yeah, 7-4, with the chance to go 8-4, taking a good run at the Coastal, and going to a bowl, with a team picked to go 6-6, is such a mediocre year. Spoken like a true yinzer. You are the perfect example of what I have been saying and describing. Good job. It didn't take long for one to surface and prove my entire point.

Horrible ACC schedule and 4-3 against it. Not acceptable.

They actually overachieved this year. But as usual, they just can't get over certain humps, like last year, falling from 7-4 to 7-7, for once, like RIGHT NOW, it would be nice to see them step up, and win the next 2 and get to 9-4. And then everyone here would be much happier.
