Tom Herman about to pull a Todd Graham?

Anybody missing Toad GraHAM now?????:(

What he did to Pederson was wrong, what he did to Pitt was shameful, but what he did to his Players was and still is Unforgivable!

I guess it's not about money bc Houston was gonna pay some big $$$$

Houston still doesn't impress me. It's aac football. Getting up for a game or two a year is nuts

IMHO, I think that USC could do better - a lot better.
You think South Carolina could do "a lot better" than Tom Hermann? I'd like to hear the specifics on that.

I see it differently--I think Herman could do better--a LOT better--than a perennial middler from the SEC.

As I've said many times, if Spurrier couldn't win consistently there, nobody can. The only reason they've been sort of relevant all these years is the Ball Coach.

Being a former gamecock season ticket holder. South Carolina has better High School football than you think the facilities are very good an AD who will leave you alone and a fan base that is happy when you beat Clemson & Georgia. The depth has taken a hit this year but with the right coach they could win the SEC East next year.

Actually, we're in agreement. If Spurrier couldn't win with consistency (as you said), then neither will Tom Hermann. Schools such as USC, who have such a ridiculous level of expectation, have to take the "go big or go home" approach to hiring. And Tom Hermann, IMHO, just ain't big enough for that task.

agree with this. i did read a few days ago they are putting 60 million towards football upgrades, including the stadium.

I don't think it's a fair comparison. Going from Pitt to ASU is a lateral move. Going from Houston to USC is a big jump.

S. Carolina has always had excellent HS football talent--and it all goes to Bama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, etc. etc. That state is recruited HARD by all of the heavyweights. USC has never had the kind of tradition or historic sustained success to have the average kid dreaming of playing for the Gamecocks.

OIK, but who do you think would be better suited than Hermann to make that perennially mediocre program great? Nobody who doesn't already have a really good job, I can tell you that.

I do think it's very risky for any program to hire a guy who has only been a HC for one year. Way too many unanswered questions.

I dunno. They'd have to break the bank to get the kind of coach that they'd need. Everyone has their price; how much is USC willing to spend?

And with so many coaching vacancies about to blow-up, that job will probably not be Job #1 - unless, as I said, the money that they're will to pay makes it an offer that can't be refused.

Huge difference between the two. Houston is not a P5 program, Herman is leaving if not this offseason, then in the near future. And also, I'm sure he wouldn't text his team from an airplane.

South Carolina, LSU and Tennessee are three SEC school that are difficult to in at unless your name is Nick Saban or Urban Meyer.

Holtz and Spurrier couldn't win at South Carolina. It's a place where coaching careers are lost.

Tennessee has been mediocre. They only time they were any good is when Majors was a player and Majors was a coach. Phil Fulmer piggy backed on what Majors built. In the end, he couldn't win with his own players.

LSU is the biggest joke right now. You're going to fire a coach that has averaged 10 wins a season for 11 years in the SEC and that's not good enough????? He also has the number one recruiting class so far and they're going to can him now??? You ever been to Baton Rouge??? It's pittiful. Who in their right mind would take that job working for that administration?

I guess it's been thrown out there that Narduzzi is somewhere down the line on list of names for LSU. And I was thinking somewhat like pittmeister was. He's not near their first choice, so this probably won't be an issue, but I see no benefit in going to LSU. The coach that is in talks about getting fired (Les Miles) has won a NC there! I can't see anyone who's not a huge name that knows big, big time recruits will come play for him would want to go there. Most of the SEC has very unrealistic goals for their coaches.
