Surprised that Danny didn't make the list.
Also, no tickle monsters made the list.

I think Aaron Donald's game against Georgia tech is my favorite pitt defensive performance I've watched. too bad that game sucked

Pitt has had some of the greatest. Pretty awesome.

Pittsburgh itself is a city of great accomplishment. I think this reflects that.

They should list the players at the positions they played in college, not the pros. Tatum and Lott were college linebackers.

No chance for Revis or Shady and Marino wasn't great enough in college. I don't think Donald would get quite there but he has a pretty decent case. This list is very old school centric.

I don't understand why Ped State doesn't have anyone on this list. I was under the impression that Joepa was God and he and the tickle monster ran the greatest program in history. Must be another part of the conspiracy to downplay the Nits and ruin their delusional fan base. What a shame.........lol

PSU did not recruit any of the guys on this list. Remember - they never lose a recruit they actually want. LOL

Haha. Kerry Collins and Michael Robinson are among the top 5 quarterbacks in CFB history. They were robbed.

I agree with others that AAron Donald should be on this list.

If Ndamukong Suh is #15, surely Aaron belongs in the top 50. I also believe Fralic belongs on this list. He was as dominant as a college OL that I have seen. Nothing against Orlando Pace, but Athlon has it totally wrong when they call Pace the "father of the pancake block". They were calling blocks that Fralic made "pancakes" almost 10 years before Pace stepped foot in college.

Not old enough to have watched Fralic but from everything my dad has said you are exactly right about Fralic.

And spot on with the Suh comments. Donald was every bit the player Suh was in college and I say that knowing how good Suh was. But Donald was as dominant as any DL could be.

Since this list seems to (improperly imo) put a lot of stock into what these guys have done as pros after leaving college, Donald should definitely be there. He's carried his dominance into the NFL. He's been the Defensive ROY and multiple All Pro and Pro Bowl player, despite being on a bad team.

It's almost like the dirty play helped Suh's stature, which is annoying but more proof that bad behavior pays in sports.

True but even without his success in the Pro's, Donald won every major award possible his senior year. He was a monster in college as well.

Wait.....Bill Fralic is not on that list? That immediately invalidates it. I am sorry.

In 1999 when SI put out their team of the century (which I somehow haven't found online, even though I clearly remember the painting they did for it, how deep their list of back-ups was, etc. - anyone have a link to this?), Fralic was one of the 5 starting OL. Dorsett was one of 2 starting RB's and Green was also a starter; Pitt was the only team with more than 1 player in the starting 22. The first back-up TE was Ditka. The Athlon list has 5 OL (in order: Pace, Hannah, Rimington, Munoz, Ogden), none of whom are Fralic ... idk if Fralic is definitely a top-5 all-time OL, or maybe #6 or 7, but that's what Athlon has.

Fast forward nearly 20 years and Fitzgerald is an obvious starter on any all-time list, and Donald should be but somehow never gets his due on that type of level. Realistically all 5 should be top-50 all-time college players. Pitt has had numerous other greats, but those are the only 5 in this discussion for the past 50 years.
