-- Another day at the Southside. The team once again is in full pads, Pat Narduzzi said today is a "thud" day, meaning it's full pads, some contact, but not a lot of live periods. I think he mentioned there will be one or two.

-- Same group of guys catching punts: Paris Ford, Taysir Mack, Maurice Ffrench, AJ Woods, John Vardzel.

-- I noticed a few NFL Scouts were here today. Looked like the Seahawks and Broncos plus a few more.

-- A lot of 'guests' today. Among the notables watching practice Walt Harris and former Upper St. Clair coach Jim Render. Of course, Gabe Houy and Brandon Ford are USC grads, so Render was watching the O-Line up close.

-- Speaking of the line, it was the same grouping as it has been: Carter Warren, Bryce Hargrove, Jimmy Morrissey, Gabe Houy, Nolan Ulizio

The second unit on the line appeared to be: Carson Van Lynn, Brandon Ford, Jake Kradel, Chase Brown, Jerry Drake

No surprises, but also nothing different from what we've been seeing. Again, I do want to remind everyone that we're seeing a few drills. They are probably shuffling things around....just not in front of the media. So again, "They're handing Ulizio the starting job" cries might be premature.

-- I was asked the other day if any of the freshmen stick out physically, and surprisingly the one that kind of did today was SirVocea Dennis. He was a late add in the class and lightly recruited, but he's really a strong looking dude. He's listed at 6-2 220 and that's very believable.

-- I asked Narduzzi which freshmen could potentially play today and he mentioned Dennis, along with Brandon George, Kyi Wright, and safety Brandon Hill. I don't think he meant significant playing time, but definitely guys that could at least see their four games while keeping the redshirt preserved.

-- Narduzzi mentioned since today was "thud" and not so much "live" he expected to see more Salahuddin today. He is 100% cleared, but they are being cautious with him in live periods. So we'll see if we can dig anything up on him and how he's doing.

-- As far as health, again nobody is out totally in a cast or anything like that. Just some general bumps and bruises it looks like and getting some extra stretching but nobody major all the main starters look to be in good shape.

-- I thought it was interesting all the true freshmen defensive players were working with Bates for a segment. I've never seen that type of thing before. But I thought that was interesting.

-- As such, I also saw the tight ends working with Borbs a little. The Line and TE's work hand in hand, so those guys knowing his voice is a good thing. Also about the tight ends, Kyi Wright is probably the most athletic guy in the room already. He's fast and can move very well

That's it for now. We're supposed to talk to Mark Whipple after practice, plus some players.
