Transfer Portal Rankings

If Capel can secure the first 7-8 guys on that list, we might have a chance next year.

Interestingly I see that Rob Phinisee, Indiana’s starting PG from the last 2 years, is in the portal. I guess he felt Woodson did him dirty by bringing in X. Phinisee isn’t much of a scorer but he’s a pretty good and proven true P6 PG and distributor.

Wow, this is a great site. Love using analytics to project out transfers. College basketball needs more math geeks to figure this stuff out. Eventually someone will figure out you should recruit guys who can actually make baskets.

The Pitt rankings seem pretty accurate. I see Ezeakudo is 516. Nelly Cummings at 12 and Neal Quinn at 15 make me think they'll have better options

They already have that it’s called shooting % !

I don't think that judging a kid's 3 point percentage on some AAU tournaments, where stats generally are not aggregated are a good measure. There should be a standardized drill with no defense that should be better be able to tell what level of a shooter he is. People will say, "but its easy to shoot with no defense." Have you seen the open looks to be had in college basketball? You arent playing Virginia or Houston every night? If you can shoot, you can shoot.

That's called Free Throw percentage.

The funny thing is seeing the difference between players' current ⭐ ratings and their high school ⭐ ratings. So much for getting all caught up in that, I guess!

You want guys who can do it when they turn the lights on !

Stand on the driving range and watch guys strip ball after ball then they go out and shoot 80 , I want the guy who who shoots 68 . Pressure does funny things to a lot of guys .

I disagree. Shooters can shoot. If there was a standardized drill, I think that would tell you all you need to know about who can shoot and who can't. Game 3 point percentages in HS and AAU with some mom doing stats arent reliable.

So then you’d want a 5’5” guy who can shoot the light out and beat anyone in a game of horse on your ACC team ?

You need to be able to get your shot off under pressure , the game is too quick and the players are too tall for someone who can’t shot when there’s pressure applied .

Pitt just had a guy named Horton that was a pretty good shooter that couldn’t do squat when teams defended him tightly .

5'5?

6'1 or 6'2 at minimum. But if a kid is 6'5 like the Citadel kid, that kid needs to go big time. 6'5 and 40% from 3 should allow you to name your school

He shot 40% in game that’s different than being a great practice shooter .
What I'm saying is a dude like that, if you put him through a standardized 3 point shooting test, he'd rank near the top of the country and would go P6 instead of The Citadel. To this day, P6 schools are not valuing shooters.

think is from the philly area -- maybe LaSalle/St Joes somewhere like that would be a good fit for him
Too high a level. See Coulibaly.

He can get spot playing time in the A10.

Be an important bench player at the mid-major level.

Start at the low major level

It makes you wonder how many of these kids are going to be left out in the cold. It’s going to become a game of musical chairs at some point.
