One of BballinsiderfromPitt's players is in the portal. Moe Odum from Pepperdine and The Bronx.

13.1 PPG
7.5 APG which is crazy
37.9% 3s

Maybe our buddy can make the connection

Marlon Barnes is the first Pitt player in.

The most interesting part to me is that Ryan Murphy is his agent! That guy would have loved the current environment with no restrictions on transfers, since he has to be one of the first players to play at 4 schools in 4 years.

Cmon man didn’t you watch him at all in this years WCC Tournament? Guy has a huge skillset and is either headed to a blueblood or a team willing to step up and outbid a blueblood. I seriously doubt Pitt could pay the type of price Odum is going to demand.

Odum and BballinsiderfromPitt as a package deal? Greene wants assistant changes, right?

I'm not sure that Odum will get but Pitt does have rev share money to spend so the player payroll is going to go way up.

We need to prioritize size, strength, and athleticism. Most of the teams who are advancing in the tournament have all of these things in spades compared to Pitt.

Plus Witherspoon coming in

Gone:
Barnes
Austin
Leggett
Dunn
Open Scholarship (I think we gave it to a walk-on last season, but I assume it opens back up)

Add:
Witherspoon

So we should have four open spots prior to any more departures, if I'm not mistaken.

Why, if they're being paid, do they still receive scholarships?
I've often wondered the same thing. Maybe it's to limit the size of the roster, although why bother? If the NCAA is "trying" to make believe these are "student-athletes" then why pay them, too?

I'm sure there's a good accountant out there who could look at a player's salary (let's use 500k) and break it down to: Room/Board = 25k; tuition and books = $25k; net salary before taxes = $450k. Why not save the kid 50k on what his taxes would be based on?

Well the lack of portal activity today by Pitt’s roster suggests that there wasn’t exactly , as some thought( or maybe hoped), a growing tide of discontent among a large number of players who couldn’t wait to leave Oakland or coaches champing at the bit to advise players to find a new team.

They are probably making too much/wouldn’t get as much at a peer university or dropping to mid-major.

Great work if you can find it!!

There is no “making too much “
It’s a silly premise
The only player of consequence who will leave is Lowe .

I know a girl who went from Duquesne to Wisconsin for NIL money for $75K. She was good, but not a superstar, but if she is getting that, then some of these values quoted in BB and FB in men's sports are real values.

It's insane.

There are 5 or 6 players on Pitt's roster who should be "fired". They're getting paid to win and they lost. Cut them loose and look for portal players. If Pitt doesn't get at least 5 high end portal guys for next year, we're looking at another 17-15 or worse with this coaching staff.

I'd be surprised if Lowe and Corhen don't enter the portal.

Given how poorly the season went, I was expecting news on players and coaches leaving by now.

I told you RMU couldn't pay for those guys. That was so obvious.
Were you meaning to reply to someone else? I don't recall ever saying RMU could realistically keep either of them. Wouldn't be surprised if the entire starting 5 is gutted by the time the window closes.

Saw an article that said Kansas, St Johns, and a couple of SEC schools were interested in Odum. He would definitely make sense and fill some needs for Pitino.

After this year, the best that either one can hope for is a lateral move. Unless either one can get more money for a lateral move, there is a good chance of both of them staying.
