Trey Final 8
SEC: 4 (Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi)
Big East: 2 (SHU, Xavier)
Big 10/12: 2 (Neb, TCU)

- some really good programs but I'm not surprised. He has a big upside but just wasnt very good as a sophomore. I could see him making big improvements and becoming a high-level P5 starter......but its also just as likely that he hit his peak and doesn't develop much. I do think getting that extra 5th year will help him greatly. Wished he would have stayed but I didn't see how it could work.

Murphy: Final 4
BYU, ECU, Tulane, UCSB
- Pretty good choices on Murph's part. Those are good levels for him.

- Jadun Michael, a 6'5 SF ranked 108 by 247's composite decommitment from Wichita to be close to home due to the virus. He goes to the Burlington School in Burlington, NC but that's one of those factories so I don't know if he's from there. That said, he's CB'd to NC State and as we know, NC State selects, they don't recruit. If they want you, you go. And then you spend 4 years on the bubble.

I hear New Orleans is lovely right now. Good choice.

At least he missed Mardi Gras. As for the level, low-level American is probably good for him. Not much different than his original starting point, Charlotte. He probably would have been better off staying there.

Yeah - was just making a joke. I wouldn’t want to be around a city that’s had major outbreaks for awhile, but I agree that CUSA seems about right for him. Wish him the best.

Trey would be a good rotation player on a team that can push pace and faces less zone. May be a win/win for Trey and Pitt if he finds a good fit and we replace him with shooters like Horton who can help bust more zones.

Trey should be fine when he’s not forced into a position to try and create after someone else has already pounded the air out of the ball. He’ll be a good PG for wherever he ends up. I think he should go to Xavier and reunite with Naji Marshall, personally. Steele is desperate and will let him do whatever he wants.

Also, I believe I said before he played a game Murphy was gonna be in over his head here. Tulane is more his speed but still too high.

Truth to this but I don't think he ever becomes the primary PG for an NCAAT caliber team. I do think he can be a really good 2 guard eventually. He doesn't have natural PG instincts

I disagree. He’s been a Pg his whole life and was put into a bad spot when he was told he’d play that here and didn’t. Played primary PG for very good Hargrave team.

Dont know if he will play for an NCAAT team but he wouldn’t have at Pitt either.

There was a reason why he was recruited as a SG - He’s not a P5 PG

He will be a better point guard if he has others around him that can shoot, but he has to cut down on turnovers and forced shots. He turns it over and takes too many bad shots to be a really good point guard right now.

Now that he will have the ball at the beginning of the shot clock instead of the middle and play his real position he won’t take nearly as many bad shots.

Idk what people mean by a point guard anymore. Can Trey be an efficient creator in the half court pick and roll game? It's the question that will probably define his basketball career. I don't know the answer, so I'm glad he can explore that somewhere else.

There’s very few true PG’s anymore. Mostly scoring combo guards, like RJ, X, Trey etc. Guys like Ethan Morton who let others eat first are a dying breed.

Trey will have a wildly successful last 2 years leading someone’s offense.
His best bet is to work on his shot he has no chance playing professionally as a pg . There’s probably no good D1 school he’d start at currently. He has a yr to develop some skills we’ll see .

Can Trey dribble the ball up the court and score points? Yes. Is that being a PG, well, not really. The question is, can he run a team, facilitate, create shots for others, and make everyone around him better. I haven't seen that in 2 years and I don't think he has it in him. I think he can put up numbers at PG on a non-NCAAT or be a starting SG on an NCAAT team.

You haven’t seen that because he hasn’t been given the opportunity to. XJ dribbled the ball flat the last 2 years.

Just because our team sucked and we were forced to play 2 guys who like to dribble the ball doesn’t mean one of them is a 2 guard.

He played plenty of point.
However im not negating your point.
I think with Trey playing point, is all about the team and system around him.
Picking the right situation for him is crucial.

Yes, he wasn’t given the opportunity to play exclusively point at Pitt was my point. I see no reason to trash a kid who chose Pitt at their absolute lowest.

Got to give him tons of credit for coming here in the 1st place.
I think some people are giving honest criticisms and don't see him as a PG. I understand that.
I hope he proves people wrong.

I appreciate how you gave him credit for coming here and also how you give credit to the people being honest about their criticism because he gave them reason to do so and I'm glad that he will go somewhere and get a chance to either prove people wrong or prove them right. At least you respect people's opinion and can move on from it but that other dude @BballerinsiderfromPitt your point is not right unless it's the one that he's making because he's never wrong and he knows it all. IMO

Cuz 99 percent of the time I am right. Just cuz it doesn’t jive with Capel being the next coach K 24/7 doesn’t make it wrong.

Accurate

frankly -
Trey reminds me of a more athletic brad wannamaker.
He just was pressed into extended minutes so early -
Because he was so much better than our other options he hasn’t had a chance to develop .

Is Tulane is last school, or do we see him go to one more final resting stop?
