As they call it now also known as gadget plays. Have we had any the past two years on offense? Even special teams when was the last fake punt we had? Thanks in advance for all responses.

I could have sworn we were already trying that. Putting the other team (and viewers) to sleep.

Sorry, I’m indifferent on the question, a few gadget plays don’t solve our offensive struggles.

Such as flea flickers? They never work if you haven’t established success with your regular running and passing plays. And if your OL is a train wreck the defense will usually destroy such a play before it even can happen.

Good point on things like fake punts though. Early in his tenure Duz showed his passion, which included some hokey stunts during recruiting (the Panther Bus at recruits homes) but at least showed he was trying. On the field, fake punts were occasionally part of that. I think the lack of such things now shows he is bored and complacent in the job. He isn’t the only HC around here that have grown old and indifferent and predictable(Mike Tomlin, Sullivan, etc).

The only reason I'd be in favor of it would be that someone not named Phil Jurkovec - a receiver, a running back... anybody - would be throwing a pass. Jared Wayne, for instance, threw a much better ball. But other than that, I think your offense has to pose some type of threat for the defenses to bite.

along those lines...when was the last time you have seen someone fake a field goal in a game? Seems like a lost art..

I've seen them, though I don't even think you should be allowed to do that in college because the holder is technically down as soon as he catches the ball. I realize that means you wouldn't be able to kick a field goal either, but I'm fine with giving him some special designation for holding/kicking purposes only.

Last one I remember Pitt attempting was VT 2017 - they completed a touchdown to the backup tight end.
