I do not think Young sitting out the rest of the half in the Duke game and his re-entry into the Louisville game are in any way connected. Jamie's substitution of Young into the Louisville game, I think was the right move in a game which up until that point was one of trading buckets. That game was lost on four or five consecutive possessions in which Pitt missed a couple of open looks, forced a three and turned it over twice.
Trust....We hear it in many fashions with this Pitt team: assisted on 20 of 26 made baskets, extra pass, help defense, we ran "our stuff". Trust of a coach in his players is part of it too. Dixon has not lost faith in Mike Young by sticking with the hot hand (Luther and Jeter) and then with a twenty point lead giving Young a rest. Mike played pretty well in the Duke game.
Basketball is a game in which having confidence is paramount. Building a confident team requires a coach to trust his players and for the players to trust each other and "our stuff".
I disagree with Zeise that Dixon was sending a message the Duke game. The only message I got from Dixon was in his hug with James Robinson.
