Note: If either or both make the team he/they probably won't return to Pitt until August since the U-20 FIBA tournament is played in late July.

Typical Pitt Pessimists. Keep in mind that none of the starting lineup predictions on this board has either of the brothers as starters for Pitt next season.

Also, there is no 100% guarantee one or both will make the U-20 team. They are among 16 trying out for 12 slots.

This development will no doubt not have been a surprise to the Pitt coaches that the brothers might be invited to try out for the Spanish U-20 team--one (both?) had played on the U-18 Spanish team.

Finally, regardless of what happens, there is zero indication that one or both won't return in early August after the FIBA tournament is over.

Shouldn’t even respond to that kind of crap !

This isn't a question for you per se, but for anyone in the thread.

Why wouldn't it be a very good thing for one or both to make this team and play significant minutes for this team over the summer? Isn't this the basically the same kind of thing AKC played for over the summer before his freshman year at Pitt?

I think the more discouraging thing would be if they weren't good enough to make this team.

If one of them scores 41 then we’ll really have something to talk about.

I'm looking forward to watching them play a whole game.

A couple of thoughts after watching the IMG/Combine game. Looked like Combine had a lot of lower level D1 (FIU/Murray St) and D2 kids. IMO Jorge was the best player on the court. IMG was most effective in this game with both on the court.

Both guys are extremely unselfish on the court and pass the ball very well. They understand spacing and ball movement. Both have very good hands.

Jorge has some Aleksej Pokusevski in his game. His shooting should translate immediately imo. Nothing cheap going in on his jumpers. He plays like a big 3/4. Guillermo is more a skilled 4/5 who needs to get alot stronger. Has range as a shooter as well.

Both players will get abused on the defensive end but their size alone will help until their overall strength improves. Definitely not explosive athletes but athletic enough at their size.

I agree that it would be
"more discouraging if
they weren't good enough
to make the team." Also
they'll be playing in real
competition as opposed
to limited workouts at
the Pete.

I doubt that Capel expects
them to arrive at Pitt and
become instant starters.
The time away at this point
IMO adds to their overall
development. There's
plenty of time for them
to arrive later and adjust
to Pitt and college Bball.
