Tyler Boyd Signs $43 Million Dollar Extension With Bengals

Really? Why would you think that?

I think he could have easily been disgruntled with how he was used in his last year at pitt. But he never voiced any frustration. Didn’t seem like a head case at all, acted normal on the field.

I have no clue if he loves pitt or not, just seems like an unfair comment.

Absolutely unfair.. he's on the sidelines pretty often.

The NFL could care less what scheme one plays in. The examples are too many to name. There is no such thing as a pro style offense anymore. The NFL looks closer to Oklahoma and Clemson than it does what Walt and Chryst ran here.

Tyler Boyd isn't making millions because he went to Pitt. He's hard worker with NFL skills and size. He would have flourished anywhere.

Disagree. Scheme matters very much at certain positions. You don't think Andrew Luck would have gone ahead of Kyler Murray or Baker Mayfield? All other things considered, the NFL would much rather have guys who come from pro schemes. The problem is that so few college teams play pro-style anymore, so the NFL doesn't really have a choice. But they would much, much rather take a kid who they know can properly read a defense, do a 3 step drop, and fire a 10 yard out than a guy who always plays in the shotgun and doesn't call his own plays.

For receivers, the difference is less dramatic but it's still there. They want to see you run the entire route tree and not just crosses where you're wide open because you're 5" taller and .2 seconds faster than the DB.

When players have NFL measurables, college production, AND scheme, those players are always highly coveted.

I think I understand what you mean by "scheme matters" but I don't buy that as a primary consideration. I mean, yeah, the kid could catch passes. That was never in doubt. But I think getting to the corner and outrunning ACC DB's on jet sweeps probably turned more heads. That has almost nothing to do with Pitt's scheme as it does individual athletic talent.

Congrats Mr Boyd.

An example of a talented hard working WR.

Its hard to beat hard work and talent.

Some just go with the talent part which only lasts so long.

As PITT alums get richer so should PITT.

Hail to PITT's Rich?
