Step 1: Self-awareness

Pitt, Maryland, Syracuse, BC, and Rutgers all take an honest look at themselves and think, "Wow. As college football programs go, we are freaking depressing."

Step 2: Collusion

While individually we make our fans want to bathe with electronic appliances, maybe we can be something collectively.

Step 3: Teamwork

Let's create a network where we're all transparent with each other. Every fifth year, each one of us can take its turn having the "A Team." In the first season, Pitt gets to have the 22 best players between the five programs; in the second season, Syracuse gets the best 22; and so forth and so on.

We'll use unlimited transfers to our benefit, and all players who commit to these fives schools will be well aware of the deal in place. Playing on the A Team in a given season will be a great privilege.

Step 4: Natty

I like your out of the box thinking , but sadly , the best 22 from those schools would still lose to Ohio St
the year the BC coach has them they might win some

maybe Duzz as DC instead of HC will help and only screw up about 50% of his usual in game rate

that might be true, the SU TE, and the BC DE might be the only ones better than OSU's 2-deep... maybe Maryland's WR as well and Kyle Lewis... Reid? maybe, but OSU had two freaks @ RB...

Haha, very possible. But look at, for instance, the 2023 NFL Draft:

Maryland - 5 selections
Buttgers - 1 selection
Boston College - 1 selection
Pitt - 6 selections
Syracuse - 2 selections

Obviously there would be some positional overlap, but how many schools have 15 future NFL draft picks playing their final year of college football on the roster in a given season?

I think this team would be a lot more stacked than some might initially guess.

This idea isn't as outlandish as it seems. Similarly, if I was Pitt, I'd form some form of partnership with Ohio State where we will play their 5 star freshmen and sophomores early and then they transfer to OSU when ready. Euro soccer teams have partnerships like this. OSU can recruit these 5 stars and stash them at Pitt for a year or 2 to develop.

Someone is going to do this so why not be the first?

we are probably already doing that with their 4* transfer scrub DB, he'll probably make the 2-deep here, or start, then if he develops, could transfer back...

I sincerely believe it could work, although maybe an alliance like Pitt, Cincinnati, and Purdue (different conferences) would be more realistic. Would probably have to agree to play similar offensive/defensive schemes, but you could even combine NIL funding among the three to make sure the A Team players were all guaranteed a certain amount.

I'd make it part of the recruiting pitch. You strive to make the A Team; you get paid; you get to face an eclectic series of opponents; etc.

The Pittduenati Boilercathers.

maybe the pedos and hoopies realize they can't also compete thus there we have it, a Natty every 3 years, for the bestest team of all... the pedopantherneers

Werewolf, you are famous, BRO! You will be doing Rogan soon! You may have just solved college football. We are all witnesses to your greatness! I'm a little pissed, though, that they didn't discuss my idea of having a school like Pitt take a blue bloods 5 stars for a year or 2 and develop them until they are ready to start for Ohio State. This is actually much more realistic and someone is going to do something like this. To give a local example, why the eff is Quinton Martin going to ride the pine for 2,3,4 years. He could be actually playing football somewhere. And when the blue blood feels he is ready, he transfers there to be the guy.

Ha, I'm not sure what that podcast is, but I do see that Message Board Geniuses picked this up which kind of pisses me off because I think it can legitimately work. I shouldn't have even joked lightly about it and should have called it like the Northeastern Football Alliance or something. If you add a lighthearted joke to it people immediately think you're just going for laughs or something, instead of natties.

I never heard of that podcast and I get the 14,784 bro podcasts all mixed up but Barstool is big time. Also, I disagree with them that an All-Star team from those schools couldn't compete for a natty. Out of those 5 schools, your 22 starters are all either going to be NFL or pretty close to it.

Honestly, it really can't work because I don't think the players and schools will go for it and the fans won't either. Would Pitt fans really go for having the "A team" every 5 years and having a Kenny Pickett taken by Rutgers because its their turn? I just don't think it can work.

I do think a partnership between a blue blood and a school like Pitt could work. Like I said, this already happens in European soccer. You go get reps at Pitt until you are ready for the big time. Its stupid to have those kids riding the bench. And then Pitt partners with like Marshall to give them our 3 star freshmen until they are ready.

Well five was probably too many. I think 3 from differing conferences is more realistic.

But the only reasons I question nurturing 5-stars for Ohio State are because skilled position dudes like Jeremiah Smith are going to go there and start anyway and then the linemen (not all, but some) probably aren't even good enough to play at Pitt when they're only 18.

A 5 star lineman like that will have to RS, maybe sit a year then start as a RS Soph. Then transfer to OSU as a junior or senior. Freaks like Smith, yes, he is a Day 1 starter but like these WPIAL dudes that Franklin hoards, those are guys who can play relatively early at Pitt. Like that Fort Cherry dude, no chance he ever plays at PSU. He should be stashed at a program like Pitt, or let's say PSU's partner is Syracuse since it obviously wouldn't be Pitt. If he ever develops, PSU can come get him.
