I think for a year or two while the defense retools Pitt might have to lower expectations. This defense is horrible. And unless there is a major improvement in some of the young players then I think next year at the minimum is another year of one of the worst defenses in the power 5 conferences. Combine a shitty defense with an offense replacing major pieces especially on the line and next year could be a short down point before things turn around (assuming Narduzzi recruits/develops well).

That being said, I dont know why anyone would think we would be the steel curtain next year. No one has claimed that. But we have good young talent

So hopefully the young kids learn fast and they are goign to have to . But if they were that good why were they not seeing the field this year with this group as their only competition. I can see some injuries with Hamlin but the rest concerns me. I stick with my thoughts that Pitt fans will need to temper expectations with a likely less explosive offence (new QB-great star rating but no results, newer RBs-not as much of a concern, and new OL pieces-big big concern). And then a defense with talented but really young inexperienced players.

Are you new to football?

we are saving redshirts. We will have similar issues next year. Guys seldom just play great from day one. At least corners or Lineman
